Re: At what age did you start potty training your son?
I started close to 2... but VERY VERY casual. Like I would sit him on the potty while his bath water was filling up at night (which usually made him go, and I would make a HUGE deal out of it, get all excited.) and like first thing in the morning. I think it was a good way to kind of introduce the concept, without pressuring him too much. he turns 3 on 11/9 and is just ok with pee... he still won't tell me when he has to go. BUT--- he's not wetting his pull ups either, though. I'm a SAHM so I take him to the potty pretty often... so its almost like he waits for me to take him, and then goes. he can hold it for awhile!! He just doesn't seem to need to go pee that often... but yet he drinks enough I think. I know its me and I just have to not take him so often so he get better with telling me. At night, he's no where near staying dry overnight, so I still put him in overnight diapers.... and he soaks them pretty well I'm thinking when hes 3.5 i'll push the issue with the nighttime. For poop, hes been trained for awhile- he got that first which is good because yay for not having to change poop diapers!! ESpecially with a boy- I wouldn't stress too early about it- they take awhile and will be ready when they're ready

I am so surprised that so many of you trained so close to 2 yrs old, DS just turned two--maybe I should try the 3 day method...
depends on ur kid. My ds is 2.5 and never wakes up dry, never tells me went, and I think if we tried now we would fail. We will be a closer to 3 fam for sure.
I agree that it does depend on each individual kid. However, my DS never woke up dry when we started potty training. We trained day and night at the same time and did not put him in diapers or pull ups at night. The first night he woke up dry. He did have accidents at night sporadically, but considering he would never wake up dry when he was in diapers, I was super surprised I was not changing his sheets every night.

yes I should this is the case for me. My DS used to wake up soaked in his diaper when I began potty training him.
Another reason I started early is because those poop diapers were getting insane.
