Re: At what age did you start potty training your son?

I just bought a potty seat to start with my 18 month old. I'm not doing any 3 days method type thing, but just starting to sit on the potty and hope something happens.

Ds is 22 months and we started. But not seriously. He tells us when he has to go just hasn't gone on the potty yet

We tried here and there but, DS had no interest - we were successful at 3 years 4 months - it took 2 days - one day of accidents and he got the hang of it the next day.

Re: At what age did you start potty training your son?

26 months...he had it down within a few days and he was fully trained at night about three months later. He was really, really good at training. NOW however he is 4 and will sometimes have accidents during the day as he is just too busy to go to the bathroom..he leaves it to the very last second and then does this urgent dance on front of the toilet and sometimes I have to change him. He never does it at night though and always wakes up if he needs to go so I don't stress about the day time accidents too much.

At 25 months. We did the 3 day method. He was fully night/nap trained by day 1. Fully day trained by day 3.

Re: At what age did you start potty training your son?

DS1 I tried at 2y 5m and he just held it in all day so I stopped. Then at 2y10m I just took his diapers away one day and he was literally pee pee trained in 1 day. I can count on one hand the number of pee accidents he has had in the last 4 years! GOing #2 took MUCH longer!

DS2 is 2y6m now and I keep saying I am going to start and I am just being lazy. He was ready a few months ago. Although I doubt it will be easy simply bc DS2 is so stubborn and he only does what he wants to do!

we waited until just after his third birthday - he was literally trained over night.

He had an occasional poop accident (when he was outside and didn't want to come in to go)

he had been waking dry for over a month.

At what age did you start potty training your son?

3 months after his 2nd birthday, so 27months.

Eta: we started in January and he was fully trained by April I want to day maybe march. That means no diapers or pull up at all or accidents at daycare or home at
Night.

I am so surprised that so many of you trained so close to 2 yrs old, DS just turned two--maybe I should try the 3 day method...

depends on ur kid. My ds is 2.5 and never wakes up dry, never tells me went, and I think if we tried now we would fail. We will be a closer to 3 fam for sure.

Re: At what age did you start potty training your son?

DS wasn't ready at all at 2. At 3.5 he was trained in a few days for pee, poop and night time.

IRL, I don't know one single person (and in addition to tons of friends with boys, I also have 6 nephews) who had their son trained that early; in fact, when the time came for me to train my son everyone warned me not to stress out until 3.5 because it could take that long!

Anyway, my son was just trained this past summer at 2yrs 9mos. It took a couple of days only--I followed most of the rules of the 3 day method. He just turned 3 on Saturday and overnight is still hit or miss, so he sleeps in a pull- up.

I agree. If you try around 2/2.5, yes it may happen but expect a longer process. Wait until THEY are really ready - its easy... 2-3 days.

This is my DS as well. He showed interest around 22 months, we went out and let him pick out a seat. Then he lost total interest. I'm not sure when to try again.

DS was the same way - waking up dry. He was also asking to be changed each time he was wet.

My best advice is not to push it - I tried a few times here and there and it was quite the battle. It seemed that everyone I know had a potty trained DC - some who were even substantially younger. It's easier on you both when you are both ready.

My son was ready and used to to tell or didn't like to be in his wet diaper at 2. He also talks a lot for his age and especually being a boy. I only waited a few months after his birthday because he was just placed in our home so I didn't want to add another change to his routine. New mom, dad, house & big boy bed was already enough.

He wasn't tramautized and it wasn't a grueling process. The only reason why I say it took around 2 months is because I count fully potty trained as no pull ups or accidents at night.

Every kid is different and especially with boys. My cousins son was also potty trained around the same age with no issues.

About 3. One of my sons trained instantly. Literally it was probably a day. The other took an entire year to train for#2, but pee was easy. He was scared to go on the toilet

Re: At what age did you start potty training your son?

Started at 2.5 y/o. Pee trained fast. Got sick, regressed. Tried again at 3. Pee trained fast. Was working on poop. We moved and he regressed again. At 3.5 we re-trained him and within a week he was completely trained... He is usually dry at night...
