btdt ~ protection plans on kids furniture
i just bought my 3 year old son his "big boy" bedroom and am excited it is getting delivered this week. i purchased the store protection plan that covers the pieces for 3 years. at the time i felt it was a no brainer but now im wondering if it was worth the $150. i plan on having this set from now until he is off to college ~ what is 3 years? but then part of me says what is $150 in the event that i need the protection?
what have any of you found that have bought your child new furniture? did you end up needing the protection or is it better just to suck it up and pay for repairs as needed or fix them yourself?
(i guess pondering the existing furniture ive bought in my house - i never really ended up calling and using protection plans but i also never had a 3 yr old and soon to be another child in the mix)
any advice is appreciated! thanks

I never pay for those plans, I feel they are a total waste of money. That being said, my DD is now 5 and she's had her furniture since birth and it still looks brand new. It's in perfect condition.

I bought one, it was a total waste of money. They gave us cleaner etc. My DD wrote on her furniture(which was covered) but I did not find it until a few months later(she hid it) and the contract says they only cover it if reported within 5 days of the incident. I don't know how they can tell but I reported it when I found it and after arguing with them they finally fixed the finish. We had other scratches and things that were also covered and the way they fix them, makes them worse than it was in the beginning. I will never buy a protection plan again.

Did you buy it from Bobs? I'm only asking because it sounds like it might be. The salesman told me that the keys to reporting a warranty claim are "it just happened" and "it was an accident" lol. I only bought it for my dining set though.
