Silly home computer/printer poll
Having a silly debate with someone, but do you think a printer for your home is necessary, if you have a computer?
ETS - Thanks so much for all the replies. FTR, I was the one who said a printer wasn't a necessity, so I guess the other person won that debate.

Re: Silly home computer/printer poll
I have a printer at home but rarely use it, so no I don't think it is necessary. If I need to print something I usually email the file and print at work.

yes, But we also run a business on the side so ours gets used so much. But even if we didn't I would still want it to print directions, coupons etc.

Being that DH and I don't have smartphones or gps, we print things all the time. Directions, store or grocery coupons, etc. We also print a lot of photos on our printer too.

We use our home printer a lot. I find myself using it a lot more now that we got a new wireless one! I love it!

This... I print from anywhere in the house. Makes it so easy. I also work from home and DH owns his own business.

Re: Silly home computer/printer poll
I guess isn't not necessary--if you rarely print you can put things on a flash drive & print at a Staples if you need to, but I like having one to print my Zappos return labels and my Christmas card envelopes.
And sometimes we need to print out tickets or coupons for shows & events.
I have a photo printer, which isn't necessary.

Re: Silly home computer/printer poll
No. I don't have a printer at home. Every once in awhile I'll think "Damn, I wish I could just print that." but not enough to make me buy a printer.
ETA: Especially since the advent of smart phones- I use my phone for directions, coupons, tickets to movies or concerts. Now a smart phone I think is an absolute necessity.
ETAA: Actually, I lied! I have a dedicated edible ink printer! But that doesn't do me much good unless I want to print a ticket on a sugar sheet.

Re: Silly home computer/printer poll
Yes, for us it is. Especially since I use the printer we have to make copies of things. Saves a trip somewhere to find a copier.

we've had a wireless one for about 6 years or so. LOVE IT. Yes I use my printer. Maybe not every day but yes we use it and are grateful to have one. Plus the scanning part of it we use a lot as well.
Lately its great for printing out coloring pages for AJ LOL

I have one and every time I go to use it the ink is dry and i have to go buy new ink, its a pain.
I do use it for faxing and scanning though so I am not ready to toss it.

Re: Silly home computer/printer poll
We have one, I use it very occasionally but mostly need it if i need to scan something. Otherwise if I am at work I will print a majority of stuff from there.
