What can I feed my 13 month old with Diarrhea?

I know you are supposed to keep it bland. But what can i give besides toast and rice? He loves Cheerios. Is that bland enough? Any fruits? I read that apple juice actually isn't good for Diarrhea, but then i read that applesauce was. He's drinking water but i also read water isn't good so i am going to get pedialyte for him in a little while. What should i be feeding him? TIA!

Cheerios have fiber - so they won't help - I would refrain from those. Bananas are good and so are apples - pears are not - they also cause the opposite effect.

No pears is not binding at all. That actually makes you go. my peds told me to avoid it.

The BRAT diet mostly. Bananas Rice Apples and Toast

Also make sure your child takes a probiotic. My peds rec twice a day when my dd had diarrhea. and lots to water to stay hydrated.

I believe theres a juice you can water down but is good at binding them. I have to look it up. Doesn't anyone know what Im talking about? Gerber makes it.

Thanks ladies!! I went to the store and bought pedialyte and bananas. I have apples and applesauce and toast. I'll give him nothing but those foods for the next day and see how he does.

My ped told me that the BRAT diet is outdated thinking. You want to go pretty bland, but you need to get some food in them so they feel better. Plus, whole-grain fiber helps to bulk up their stool and make it harder.

So stay away from processed foods, fatty foods, greasy foods, and super high-fiber foods like beans or berries, etc. But you can give grilled chicken, cereal, yogurt (great b/c of the probiotics), potatoes, stuff like that.
