How old was your child when they slept over grandma and grandpa's house

I think her first overnight when I wasn't there was when she was around 6 months or so? I don't really remember. Now that she's 14 months, she sleeps at my parents' house without me once a week in the summer (they watch her on Mondays, so I drop her off on Sunday and then they bring her back Monday afternoon to my house).

Ds is 18 mos and has not slept over yet. My own parents I dont trust to babysit period and with my ILs it would have to be an emergency bc I just prefer to be home w him at night.

How old was your child when they slept over grandma and grandpa's house

DD was 13 months. DH and I were going into the city for a night out around Christmas time and knew we were going to get home super late. My mom offered and I anxiously accepted. But she did great.

She stayed with my parents.

A just for fun sleepover, probably not for a few years.

Re: How old was your child when they slept over grandma and grandpa's house

Twins were about 3-4 months, they slept over my parents house one night to give us a break. They have slept over maybe a total of 5 times in 3 1/2 years and two weeks ago was the first time they slept over IL's house as a trial run for next weekend when we have a wedding in NJ.

One month old because we had a wedding to go to. I cried leaving him but it's always nice to have a night out once in a while.

How old was your child when they slept over grandma and grandpa's house

First time was probably around 5 months. We had a wedding in PA and no kids. THen again at 8ish months just cause and they we went away at 15 months for my 40bday for a weekend and then tonight cause we have a wedding and MIL is watching DS and rather than wake him at midnight we are just leaving him there.

Again though my DS is a daycare kid so as long as you are not a criminal, drunk or high you can watch my kid!!!!!

10 weeks and it was for 4-5 days. DH and I went away for our anniversary. We didn't go too far away (2 1/2 hour drive) in case they needed us.

DD will be 4 in Oct and is having her 1st sleepover with grandma this wknd Chat Icon. Grandma has had 'sleepovers' with her at our house before but this will be the 1st time she will stay there without us. She's been asking to do it for a while and is excited. My mom has a whole day of fun planned for them. I wish she would take my 16 month old DS too so I could get some stuff done at home Chat Icon

20 months. There was really no need even then but we were going to be out late so it was just easier for my Mom to keep here there. She's only had 2 so far and is scheduled for another in September. The first time she slept in so late I was going to send her there every weekend! Chat Icon
Before that she either went where we did or one of us stayed home.
We did TRY a few times prior but something always came up that we had to cancel our plans. In hindsight, I wish I had done it sooner, it was so anxiety provoking for me! She, of course, was fine.

Re: How old was your child when they slept over grandma and grandpa's house

DS was 3 months exactly when he slept over my parents house. DH and I had a wedding to go to so he was there for 3 nights. It was harder on us than the baby! My parents raised me so I knew they would be fine with DS. I left them a list of when DS gets fed, etc. And I always had my cell if they had questions.

Since then he's slept over a handful of times and has never had a problem. He sleeps in the pack n play and I bring over everything he needs.

Some of my best memories are sleeping over my grandparents house when I was little, so I want DS to have those same memories.

What exactly are you worried about?

DS will be 8-9 months when:

1) He stays at my sisters for a wedding
2) He stay with my parents for 6 nights when we go to Aruba the week after the wedding
3) He might stay at inlaws the week before for the first wedding for another wedding

I am not uncomfortable leaving him with them (esp my sister and my parents), just concerned that they will not keep him on his eating schedule and I am gonna miss him terribly every night I am away from him! If we had to do it sooner we would have, but I treasure every minute with him since we both work full time, all year round, I don't like to give him up!!!

I EBF until Dd was 1 and she was bad at taking a bottle. So she never slept a full night anywhere without me. We did leave her at my parents for bedtime, while we went outa few times, but then went back and got her to take her home with us. She was over 6 months the first time we did this though. We also stayed at my inlaws out of state, but we didn't leave her at all. So I don't think that counts as a sleepover.

But, is it a parenting style? When we left DS at 4 and 8 weeks, it was for a family wedding both times. Close family.

Would you not go to the wedding?

Totally not being snarky, just curious.

4-5 months. She has sleep over at both grandparents house 2 times each. They love having her all day and overnight. And gives me a chance to sleep in and spend time with DH. I miss her each time though.

Personally, I'd go to the wedding but have a grandparent stay at our home to put DS to bed. We'd then come home at whatever hour.

If for some reason no one could come watch him at our home, either DH or I would stay, the other would attend the event.

Re: How old was your child when they slept over grandma and grandpa's house

DS is 15 months and just the thought of not seeing him before bed/when he wakes up makes me anxious haha. I'm sure if we had to everything would go just fine and maybe I would be less anxious to try it in the future (at least that's how it went with the dog-I cried like a baby leaving him with my parents for our honeymoon). I just don't know how to get over that initial hump. That being said neither my parents nor my inlaws have ever offered/asked to watch him for more then a few hours here and there so it may be a moot pointChat Icon
