Bronx Zoo parking

We're going tomorrow and I see online that there are 2 entrances/parking lots:

one at Southern Boulevard and the other off the Bronx River Parkway.

Anyone know what the difference between the two are and which one is preferred? do they go into different areas of the park or is one more crowded than the other?

They enter into different parts of the zoo. I personally don't think one is better than the other - just depends on what/where you want to do/go for the day. If you've never been, probably doesn't matter where you start!

They do feed into different areas of the park., You can google for a park map.
If you have kids and are planning to do the Children's Zoo and/or Dinosaur Safari, I would park closest to those and do them first, before it gets crowded.

it's been awhile since I've gone and I remember the last time we went, we had to walk up a steep hill from the parking lot to the entrance. i'd like to avoid that lot but don't remember which it was...

I recommend getting off the parkway where it says Bronx Zoo and ask at the booth how to get to Asia parking. That's where the monorail is.

I much prefer the parking lot off of Southern Boulevard. It lets you in right by the Children's Zoo.

Southern Blvd. since that is closest to a lot of the kid friendly attractions. The Carousel, Congo Gorilla's, Children's Zoo, etc. The Bronx River Parkway, I feel like you have to walk pretty far to see your first attraction.
