Buying a size up for next year???
Do you buy clothes at the end of the season to use for next year? I was just at Target and all the summer clothes were marked down so I picked up DD 6 outfits for next year. I got some 18 mos and some 24 mos so should be a good variety. (She will be 19 mos at the start of summer.)
So far she has always worn her correct size according to her age in months but not sure how things will be past 1 year? I think they tend to taper off at some point right? I know it's a gamble but couldn't resist the sales!!!

In general, I always buy a size up, especially in basics like shorts and t-shirts and pants and long-sleeve tees.
I like to see DS get a couple of seasons out of clothing. He's 4 now.

I got some 18-24mo for next summer. They still wear 6 mo skirts and shorts so I hope they fit. I'm not worries about dresses too much.

I'll buy a few things if they're super cheap. I've always been lucky that the sizes have worked out. If she'll be 19 months at the start of summer, I would stick to 24 months stuff though. DD is below the 50th percentile and at 15 months she's getting close to growing out of her 18 months stuff already. Under a year she was always true to size or even went a little past the range.

I have done it in the past and mis-estimated what size my DS was going to be so I tend not to now.

same here. DS is almost a year old and he is in 18 months now and has been for some time. So I can never tell!

I don't. I would like to but it's just too hard to estimate what size my kids will be in a year from now. It's just easier to buy things as needed.

I always shop this way. I buy up a size. My girls wear the size according to age. If something lOoks small I may go up an extra size. I do awesome at Carter's and Gap. Ive never paid more than $5 for pjs and most times I get them for $3.49 at carters. Winter coats are also one of my major finds. Got each girl 3 coats for winter and I paid under 20 for each coat.

That's what I do too. He has 2 winter jackets and I paid under $10 for them- one is Gap, one is Lands End.
I just got him most of the play clothes for next summer at Kohls- everything was $2.80 and I used 30% off.

Ditto... My dd is really small... 12m is still fitting her fine and she's 15m old. I can't even estimate her size for the fall... There's no way I'd buy a year in advance! But I have issues... I hate when things are too big or small on her

I do but after 24 months it's much easier since it's just 2t, 3t, etc. I also have two ds so it would be very hard for something to go wasted.

Not usually... their rate of growth changes as they age and each baby is different. If you find some great sale items, nab them, but keep in mind you might not be able to use them.

same. i made the mistake of buying the size i thought he would be (always in the size of his age) and this past summer the 18 month shorts were falling off of him even with the waist rolled over. i had to run out and buy the next size down. we have shorts that he probably will not wear this year because they are just too big.

always for shitts, jackets, sweaters, jeans, khakis - stuff that they'll easily and eventually fit into regardless of the seasn -
I don't buy 'in season' bottoms like shorts or fleece lined anything b/c w/ my kids I never know what size they'll be in -
but tops are usually safe

I don't because I'm usually so off. I thought DD would be in 3T this summer, but her 2T stuff fit her fine. I'd rather buy as needed.

Nope. Never did. I'm also really bad at storing till next year bc it goes in the back of the drawer then forgotten about till I clean out the drawers and it goes in the "given away" pile with tags on it.
Happens too much with me.
I need to buy in the NOW! 
There are so many sales, price cuts, etc it's not even worth it to me to hold onto it. Only thing ahead of time I do is a few months. Now I am getting Fall stuff for the boys, but that's it. Got their winter coats at the Nordstrom sale and my mom is always getting stuff for the next season.
Just don't do the next year.

Not usually, especially at a store like Target. My kids were always off the charts size-wise, so I would never be able to estimate their size a year from now.
I would only consider that at Carters or Osh Kosh, where they take anything back with a receipt. I buy extra pants a size up in the Fall for my DS to wear in the Spring, because once April/May comes around, the stores are only selling shorts! But if he doesn't wear them, I can always return them. I do the same with pajamas.

Yes I always do this! I get things for dirt cheap. My mom buys a lot for my twins this way too. Its like her second job haha. Luckily the estimations have worked out for me so far.

my mom also takes getting bargains for my girls for the following year real serious! Between her and I my girls have a ton of clothes and all of it was a great deal!

I do the same and have saved hundreds. Both my kids have pretty much been the same size as their age. I wouldn't shop any other way. I usually get coats in the end of winter, but last year I was only able to get for DS. I went to late for DD.

I do for high end and special occassion stuff. Seven jeans for $15. An ADD down jacket at 70% off - stuff like that . And ZARA - I love Zara season end steals!

Exactly. I'd love to to save some money but if they don't fit, it would be a waste instead.
