Food for Baptism other than Italian?
I feel like every single party we do Italian food, so predictable in my family. We will probably get the baby's baptism catered, any suggestions as to alternate cuisine for a party of about 30?

The party we went to yesterday (1st bday) was catered from Iavarone. But they didn't have all of the traditional Italian stuff.
Some of the things I enjoyed were the fried Mac & Cheese and Espresso bourbon chicken.
They also had hamburgers and hot dogs and a variety of salads.

We did Chinese/Japanese food.
We've also catered from Iavarone for some events, they are very good indeed.

We did Middle Eastern food for our kids' first birthdays.
We just used our local place and ordered a ton of kebobs, rice, salad, hummus, babaganoush.
People loved it, it was healthy and unusual.
Even the kids loved it (rice and chicken on a stick!).
Greek would work too if you have a place by you.

ITA with Mediterranean - healthier and so much more refreshing than Italian food. The other trend i notice is Asian themed with maybe a tray of chicken nuggets/fries for the kids.

What time of the year is the party and what time of day? If it's still nice you can do a backyard bbq either yourself or hire caterers to come in and do all the bbqing you can have the typicals and shish ka bobs and corn and sides etc. etc. etc. Or you could just do a very American type of lunch - wraps in different colors with from meats to grilled veggies, sandwiches, cold pasta dishes, salads, etc. Also you could do Mexican I know Baja fresh will cater make your own fajitas...

We also did chinese a couple years ago for my grandfathers 80th and it was a huge hit! Very good and actually very affordable. We got it from JANI in wantagh.

I also vote chinese if you want to switch it up. One family party I made beef and broccoli, homemade egg rolls, and we catered a couple other dishes and everyone seemed to really enjoy a change. I agree I feel italian is always served so its nice to serve something different.

I like the Asian ideas. That is totally not something I would think of serving at a party and I bet you can get it pretty inexpensive.

i like the mexican idea... you could also to a BBQ... pulled pork, ribs, brisket, mac n cheese, cornbread, etc.
