I washes some newborn clothes and all swaddle blankets/sheets/towels. We were team Chat Icon , so we didn't have much clothes before he was born.

Re: Washing clothes- yay or nay?

I washed sheets, receiving blankets, onesies (NB and 0-3 mos), a few outfits including the one we brought Dd home in, and bath towels about a week before my due date. We lived in an apt at the time and didn't have a washer/dryer, and I wanted to be prepared. We were also in the process of closing on our house, and I wanted to have as much done as I possibly could before DD was born...of course, she was 9 days late, so I had plenty of time.

Re: Washing clothes- yay or nay?

Ha. I'm doing this tonight lol.

I'm washing his newborn clothes (I only have 5 onesies, 2 sleepers, and the coming home outfit), some of his 0-3 clothes (the ones I know i'm def def keeping), sheets, swaddles, crib matress cover, and towels/washcloths.

I'm DEF not washing everything. I'm still not 100% sure what I'm keeping, based on size and season, and what i'm not.

Personally, I would wash the "necessities" (things you're going to need right away) and leave the rest.

Question, do bibs get washed before 1st use too?

Re: Washing clothes- yay or nay?

I washed newborn, 0-3 and 3-6 and hung it all up in the closet. I also washed swaddles/blankets, towels, wash cloths, bibs, burp clothes/cloth diapers, sheets, mattress pads, breathable bumpers, and the covers to the swing, changing table pad, carseat, rock & play sleeper... It's much easier to do it now before the baby gets here then to do it after.

I wash anything washable. You definitely want to wash the bibs because think about how they are packaged----tons of people touch them and they could have been all over the floor of the store, in the shopping cart ....

Re: Washing clothes- yay or nay?

I wash my own clothes before wearing, so yes, I washed everything for baby. I didn't not do things like the bouncy seat or car seat covers.

Exactly except that's why you should wash everything. People are dirty. They carry dirt on their hands and then touch clothes in the stores that you then buy. Wash everything. Babies have sensitive skin and deserve clean clothes.

I washed everything I knew we'd 100% use right away, I agree w/ not knowing where this stuff has been before you received it, you never know if someone before you got it as a shower gift and returned it to the store etc, I feel like it could've been anywhere and it doesn't hurt to wash it just in case!

I was told to definitely wash newborn clothing, and accessories ie bibs to begin with. Newborns have very sensitive skin and you want everything to be clean when it touches their skin.
I am washing 0-3 months this weekend and everything else will wait until I get a bit closer.

Re: Washing clothes- yay or nay?

We are washing things as needed. I washed a few things so far but honestly MOST things we will wash when he comes home. It's as simple as throwing a load of teeny tiny clothing in the machine and then tossing it in the dryer... As it is we have enough to get us through the first 2 days at home, but I want to know what sizes work, etc. before we go ahead washing things he may not ever wear.

eta: I'm actually not sure if I read your question correctly. If you are asking if people will be washing things before the baby wears it then YES any clothing I put on him will be washed first - however I'm not washing everything before he comes home. I'm washing things as I know I'll need it, that way I can take advantage of returns for what he does't wear.
