Do people dress up for broadway shows anymore?
I remember going a while back and being surprised at the casualness of people. Is it me? We're going to see Chicago on Sunday and I'm thinking of wearing a dress with semi-casual wedges.

It is a mix.
DH and I saw Jersey Boys last fall. Some people were dressed nicely ( we were because we also went out to dinner) and others were dressed as if they were at a backyard bbq.
Wear whatever makea you feel comfortable.

They don't, and it upsets me SO much. I still do. If I'm gonna pay that much for a ticket, it's gonna be a special night :)

We don't go often but I do like to wear nice pants or a skirt. Some people I've seen at shows look like they just rolled out of bed. I think your outfit will be appropriate.

Total mix. I go all the time because I work in theater. I'm usually in my work clothes, but if I have comps on the weekend, it's jeans and sneakers for me.
You'll see people really gussied up, and people wearing jeans...and everything in between.

Not really, and it makes me nostalgic for the time when people actually gave a couple of F's and dressed up to just go out for a night on the town.
We went to see West Side Story a couple of years ago & we were dressed up, yet sitting in a sea of fanny packs, black sneakers with white gym socks, & smelly smelly tourists.

There are no hard or fast rules anymore. It's all over the place. You get people who still get all gussied up to shorts and a t-shirt.

DH and I do because when we go to a show it is something special and something we do not do all the time.

No.
I went a little over a year ago, when I was VERY pregnant... I got all dressed up, everyone else was in sneakers and jeans. And they even pushed me over on the bathroom line, a pregnant woman, to get through faster.
Not the Broadway crowd I remember! LOL

Not nearly as much as they used to. It's a huge mix. I tend to go in a cute dress/skirt, or dress pants, but there have been times where I've gone in jeans and a nice top. Never sneakers or flip flops. I miss the days where things were a little more formal.

Just went and saw Wicked a few weeks ago and there was alot more people in jeans and sneakers then people dressed up. We felt a tad over dressed, but we went to dinner afterwards.

Total mix but I got the feeling the worst dressed people were the wealthy people that go to shows whenever they please  I was dressed up a bit because its a big deal for me to spend that much money on tickets for anything

if you feel like dressing up, go for it! I look for any excuse to get dressed up.
a long time ago I saw Michael Crawford perform at jones beach and there were these cute little old ladies. They were dressed up like they were going to the opera. they broke out their best rhinestones and were wearing dresses.
How times have changed in just a couple of decades.

Ok so I'm not crazy! I found this with wedding ceremonies too. I guess I just have different expectations.
We've been dressed down this whole summer at work so I'm definitely looking forward to looking pretty. 
It is Sunday afternoon as well, so although we'll be going out to lunch prior, I don't feel like it's "night on the town" kind of dressy either.

I'm with you! I always dress up and dress up my kids as well. My IL's never dress up.
I have to attend an out of state wedding (Western Mass) which is definitely more casual than NY weddings anyway. On the invite it says, "Casual Dress Ties will be confiscated"... I feel very uncomfortable NOT wearing a dress... I don't care if we are the most dressed up family. I just can't wear a sundress and flip flops to a wedding that isn't on the beach.
