Nanny Question

Just wondering if anyone can provide some input. What is a typical weekly salary? I wanted to hire someone 3-4 days but instead of paying hourly, I was thinking a salaried job. Any idea on what that would cost? We currently pay someone hourly for 2 days but she's leaving us :(

Assuming the nanny only watches your child, I think any nanny usually requires $100 per day.

we paid our part time nanny about $15 an hour - I decided on a set number of hours and that was her pay per week whether we needed her or not - my part time nanny I did not pay for holidays or days not worked

I paid a full time nanny a little less per hour but her work week was 55 hours - she got the same pay whether there was a holiday or not. If we came home late - we did not pay extra if we came home early another day that week - we did pay extra when she stayed more than 1 hour extra any night

You will need to decide on an hourly rate ($10-15 seems to be the going rate depending on # of children).I would figure out whether you need someone for 3 or 4 days and the # of hours per day prior to advertising for a nanny and interviewing people. Then you can determine a weekly salary. Nannys negotiate based on an hourly rate, but if you are willing to pay them a flat weekly rate regardless of if you used them for all of the hours agreed upon, they obviously will be fine with a salary. Also if you are going to provide them with a salary as opposed to paying hourly, you would have to negotiate sick time ( 2 or 3 paid sick days per year) and they would get paid for days you were off and don't need them.

I hired a wonderful woman from care.com for $12 per hour following a school calendar. She is a SAHM of high school kids looking for some extra spending money. It was hard to find someone. They want $$$ and hours. Many did not have Their own transportation, some never showed up for the interview and many wanted way to much money.

we hired ours at an hourly rate but it really is a weekly rate. If we get home early and she leaves we don't dock her pay and if here and there she has to stay a little later we don't give her extra.

I would use maybe 12-15/hour as a base rate to calculate her salary and go from there.

We also pay her for all holidays that I have off plus vacation.

We pay our nanny a weekly / salary rate, but have her FT, so not sure if that info will help you. However, feel free to FM me if you want the details.
