Chocolate?

I lost the paper the doctor gave us telling us when we can feed certain things.

What is the age for chocolate? I ask because I found out that my 13 month old had some chocolate ice cream cake yesterday at daycare for an older child's birthday. She seems totally fine - but I was a bit concerned because I thought the pediatrician may have said 2 years.

Also - what about peanut butter?

Re: Chocolate?

My ped gave the go-ahead for chocolate at 9 months. DD really isn't all that interested so far. He says 2 years for peanuts/peanut butter. All peds are different though.

I got the OK to give DS chocolate cake for his first b-day. he's been in love ever since! I don't remember the age for PB but I think it was 2 or 3. I'm always so nervous though because I have nut allergies.

Chocolate?

My ped gave the ok for everything except honey at 6 months as per the new recommendations from the AAP (this has changed since DS 1 who's 3 1/2 was born).

Re: Chocolate?

I didn't even know chocolate was one of the wait items. I'm pretty sure DD had it well before 1 year. Probably a small amount in a taste of cake or something. Now, she LOVES chocolate. After dinner DH and I always have a square of dark chocolate. DD has been eating it for a while now (she is 20 months) and goes crazy for a small nibble after dinner. We gave PB at about 15 months and she loves that too.

Chocolate?

never asked permission. Never was told this or that yes or no. So I gave her what I could when I wanted. She was fine. I remember reading on HERE about strawberries and AJ had that around 6m or so. Peanut butter too and honey is no big deal. She survived it all.

But chocolate just isn't something we'd give her anyway unless it was cake and she didn't like it. She prefers vanilla cake. We dont let her have chocolates except once in a blue moon and she's like her mama and prefers dark chocolate. hahaha

Just call the ped if you're curious. God knows I've called them the same DAY saying "sorry but that paper is either lost in my diaper bag, tossed out with a diaper by accident or just in general GONE! Can you repeat...." They were always MORE than understanding hahaha

My DD had both chocolate and peanut butter well before she turned 1 with no issue. I wasn't overly concerned as we have no family history of food allergies on either side.

Re: Chocolate?

DD had chocolate after she turned 1. I still haven't given her peanut butter (she's 14 months). I don't know why I haven't given it to her yet, I just have this fear of it for some reason. I'm going to ask the doc at her 15 month appt and see if it's ok.

Chocolate?

I was never given any restrictions on chocolate. He has had it a few times with no issues.
