 Breast pumps through insurance?
How does this work?
I've called my insurance company and they can provide me with a breast pump if the doc write a letter (which is fine). Do I wait until I deliver to do this or should I be taking care of this now?
And is this to rent or to own?
Oh, I have Aetna if it matters.

 Breast pumps through insurance?
I called the medical supplier my insurance company uses and they told me to call back 2 months out from the due date and provide them with the script for the pump, and it will then be delivered within a week of my due date. It would be to own.

 Re: Breast pumps through insurance?
i have aetna too (i think its an open access plan but im not 100% certain). I called up sun med medical and gave them my information (name, address, insurance info) and they checked to see what was covered and got back to me within 48 hours. i was told the madela double pump was covered (shipping too) and then the shipped it to me. maybe give them a call and see what they say when they have your insurance info I did not need a note - but all plans are different

 Re: Breast pumps through insurance?
I have Aetna also- they gave me the names of 3 durable medical equipment companies that I could use: -Edgepark -Byram
and sorry I forget the 3rd
I called the first two and Edgepark was a PITA and I had to be 30 days from delivery (I was 33 days when I called)- so I called byram and they emailed me the form, I filled it out and the pump is on its way.
eta- byram also told me if I needed medical paperwork from the doctor that they would handle all that

 Re: Breast pumps through insurance?
I don't have Aetna, but I called my insurance company to check on what my coverage specifically entitles me to. They offered to locate the pump I wanted from the different suppliers. Once they located my pump, they called me back with the information and I called the supply place. They requested a script for a breast pump from my drs office (just generic script for pump, not a specific one). Once that was received, they sent me a form to fax back with my payment information, and a few days later I received my pump in the mail.
If your plan allows, I'd take care of it sooner than later. I am predicting the few weeks after the baby arrives to be hectic!
