CIO - when to do it

so we are at that point with DD that its time to CIO
this week is a good week for me to do it because its an easy work week
however, she is going to my moms for a sleepover saturday night. i would hate to do it this week and have to re-do it next week bc shes out of her own environment for one night
do you think it would matter? should i do it this week or wait til next?

edit - i just realized this weekend shes sleeping at my moms and the 2 weekends after we will be out of state (with DD), then we are home for 2 weekends and then away for the next weekend.
does this mean i need to wait til all our summer trips are over to do CIO??

I don't really know but ive heard that it often takes just a few days... so maybe you'd be done by the weekend?... not sure... just really wanted to wish you luck!! my anxiety went through the roof reading this because I think we might have to CIO soon too and i've been avoiding it and putting it off. I can barely stand when she cries for a second. ugh!! hope it's quick and easy for you. Let me know how it goes!!

Can I ask what her sleep issues are? Just wondering if they're similar to ours. DD doesn't go to sleep on her own for naps or bedtime (needs to be rocked to sleep). Sometimes it takes an hour of putting her down and picking her up before she falls into a deep enough sleep to stay asleep... and then she's up for a bottle in the middle of the night... and up a hundred other times when she repositions herself/ needs the paci, etc.

I'm probably not the best person to ask, bc before we finally did it we found a million reasons to procrastinate, but I would wait.

It took a good week for it to click with my daughter, and I have heard or it taking up to 2. Yes, some get it in a few days, but unfortunately not all of us are that lucky. Good luck!

CIO - when to do it

Everytime DD slept out of her own environment, she always returned to her old sleep habits. So I would wait until after the sleepover since you may have to start all over again next week.

ive been putting it off too but finally think its time. i tried about a month ago and she was not ready - but now i think we all are!
she naps on her own - sometimes just by being put in her crib, others she needs the pacifier and a few pats on the back and other times she needs the swing. our problem is middle of the night wakeups. she was sleeping til about 5 or 6am with no problem - and when she would wake at that hour i would feed her bc it was a long stretch. she even gave us an 8pm-8am night. however recently shes up again at 3am. we try all the tricks that used to work for us...the pacifier, patting her back, gas drops, teething medicine and even picking her up and rocking her. the only thing that worked was nursing her - but it wasnt a hungry feeding. it was obvious she was sucking to pacify herself and within 3 minutes was back to sleep. if she took a real feeding i would think maybe a growth spurt and would be ok with nursing her...but since its not i dont know what else it could be. so it seems our only option right now is CIO - i am dreading it!!!
