How old was your LO when you started potty training?

How long did it take?

What method did you use?

Did you use a separate potty or an training seat attachedto the toilet? Pros/cons of either?

If you used the training seat was your LO able to get onto it themselves while potty training?

Im trying to decide bw using a separate potty or an attachment to the toilet when potty training. Im leaning toward the seat but DD is only 19 months and I don't think she would be able to climb up on it by herself... so what does it mean when your child is potty trained? does it mean that they just tell you they have to go or do they actually physically go to the toilet .. bc if its physically going I don't see how DD would do this if I used the training seat?

ALso if you

Re: A couple of potty training questions..

DS was 3 years 2 months. He was already going poops on the potty for a while. He was potty trained after one accident - he was HORRIFIED when he peed in his pants, and that was it!

Training DD right now. She is a little over 2 1/2. Day two of (mostly) the 3 day potty training method. It's going great.

I think it depends on you and the child. With my DS I took him in the backyard for the day with a little potty and a box of tissues. It worked great. dD will not have it! She likes to go in the bathroom on the real potty. I do tend to think its best to go in the bathroom anyway. I mean, that is what you are practicing, so I think it is probably best to go in the actual bathroom.

We have that potty seat that attaches to the regular seat. Love it.

22 months old
How long did it take?
4 days, on a day 4 we went to the Bronx Zoo without a diaper!
What method did you use?
3 day method, but I changed it a little bit!

Did you use a separate potty or an attachment to the toilet? Pros/cons of either?

We used a cheap Ikea potty seat for the first two months, then got the new toilet seat with small potty attached to it ( Home Depot). We liked both, but DS liked to go peepee on the big potty just like daddy and then flush it!
We potty trained him at night once he turned 2.5.- same method.

A couple of potty training questions..

DS was 3y 4m.

#1 - we had one day of accidents and it clicked by day 2. He has had a couple of accidents - usually on his way to the potty and 2x at night. We put him in pull ups at night and on long car rides and flights and hasn't had an accident.

#2 - about a month. I was able to catch him in the act and through bribery, he eventually got it.

I just took off diapers during the day and put him in underwear and went from there. I think waiting until he was as old as he was worked to my advantage since it clicked immediately. I tried earlier but, he wasn't ready.

ETA - I bought the Baby Bjorn small potty but, he uses a potty seat that sits on top of the toilet like he does at daycare.

DD was 28 months. we tried at 23 months but I wasnt really consistent with it and I was 9 months pregnant!

How long did it take?
4 days. On the 4th day we ran errands with underwear.

What method did you use?
Three day potty training method

Did you use a separate potty or an attachment to the toilet? Pros/cons of either?
We used a kids potty seat that goes over the toilet. I chose this because I didnt want to have to worry about another transition to the toilet.
