Yup. We started at 5.5 mo with veg, then fruit then I added oatmeal after I allergy tested most. I felt they would enjoy the fruit/veg more and the ped said to hold off on oatmeal b/c they had eczema. They took to everything fine.

You can skin it.
They are fortified with iron so you may still want to use them. I like to mix cereals with fruits and veggies!

Re: Another solids ques..
we started with oatmeal but he didn't seem impressed. after a week we decided to start veggies at night and give him oatmeal before his 1030/11 bottle.
I would totally cut it out, but it seems to help with his spitting up a little. I think we are gonna try a fruit next and then have a fruit in the morning maybe with a little cereal and the veggie at night.

Re: Another solids ques..
I did not do cereal with my 2nd and 3rd. It's more of a training tool to help them Learn to eat more solid food.

I started with veggies as per peds. =) They say Orange veggies are the easiest to digest so you may want to start there. My dd and a few friends kids did great with squash as a first food. From there I did sweet potatoes, carrots and then on to fruit like pears and apples.
Look up wholesomefoods website. GREAT recipes, info and lets you know roughly what ages to start certain foods, which ones are high allergen foods. Really great site!

Re: Another solids ques..
I skipped it and went straight to "oranges" first - carrots, butternut squash, sweet potato, bananas, avocado...
My ped said a lot of babies get constipated with rice cereal and she always advises to skip it.

Re: Another solids ques..
Sure! I think I started oatmeal at 4 months and fruit/veggies at 5 months so I think that's fine! Have fun.
