how to get LO to drink more water?

DD drinks 3 8oz cups of milk per day (give or take a few ounces). In between I try to give her water, and especially now with the hot weather I want her to drink more water. Usually she only takes a few sips here and there and that's it. I tried it plain, then I tried adding a splash of white grape juice and she still wont drink too much. How can I get her to drink the water?

Maybe try a different flavor of juice. My DD didn't like white grape juice, but she loves apple juice. I give her an ounce of it in her water bottles and she drinks it all up.

You can add a splash of juice to it (apple, grape, etc) or you can get a fancy, pretty type of cup that may catch her eye with just water. My DD will only drink Fiji Water if its not Fiji she won't drink it. I do think there is a difference in taste between Fiji and lets say Poland spring.

I do half and half juice to water (with the juice ALREADY half water - Motts for tots)

I also have a tall thin water bottle (freebie) she LOVES it but I made it clear it is only for water.. you must drink water with it or you can't use it. She drinks her water

She also has an owl shaped water 'pouch' with clip she carries around.

Sick/gross but we showed her what happens to lids when juice stays in it and she saw the mold and noticed it doesnt happen with water and since she loves her stuff 'clean' she will choose water in anything with a straw. She still drinks juice but not as often.

Water is a big deal considering how hot it can get here.

How old is she? My DD is one and she is now refusing water bc its in her sippy. She wants it in a big girl cup with a big girl straw! And there is no way she is ready for it. I let her try but she spills it all over. I think she sees DH and I doing this. Thats my conculsion anyway.

My DS has sips all day long. I just always make sure his cup is full and that I change it out if its been sitting too long with cooler water.

Maybe try a new cup and use it just for water! My DD also loves when I add an ice cube.

She is 17 months. We use these cups for everything (milk and water) and she drinks the milk with no issues, not sure why it's only with water.

Munchkin Sippy Cups

I guess I will have to look for a new cup to use.

I use the Disney sassy straw cups, no issues with spillage

maybe start with more juice and then once she gets a taste for it dilute it more. My girls also enjoy drinking from my cup (reuseable straw cup) They love taking sips of my water with fruit in it (slices of strawberry, apple or orange or a handful of frozen fruits)

My 16mo takes sips all day too. He LOVES mommy's cups and bottles, so I let him take however much he wants from my cups, as long as its water only.
