Mad Men Finale
What did everyone think?
My favorite scene was when Dons daughter looked up at him like she was finally getting to know him
The character development is amazing but felt so etching was missing
Friends on Facebook are raving about the finale but I felt like I needed more

I liked it, but I felt like the season just got going in the past 3-4 episodes, so I definitely feel let down that it's already over.
I feel so bad for Pete, he can't win. But I am also confused by the dynamic between him and Bob Benson at this point.
And I'm just so sick of Megan. I hope she goes away for good.

Last few episodes they were overpowering the dialogue

I thought this episode was so amazing. Especially the last scene with Sally and Don exchanging looks at his old house. So telling of what probably went thru her head at that moment. Puncutated by her saying that she doesnt know anything about him in the bulglary epi and then in the last epi "my father never gave me anything"
how about the Hershey speech?? I actually gasped! First when he paused and was about to say something I was like "what does he have to add to already a great pitch?" and then he tells the truth abt how he grew up and my heart fell. It was so raw and emotional and Jon Hamm did such an amazing job of delivering in. I actually had hard time looking at the screen, it was a total car crash moment.
Inevitably he got put on leave. Wonder how will this thing play out in the 7th and final season.
And poor Peggy! Tho my 2nd fav moment was her sitting in Don's chair and doing a Don from first season, looking over the city skyline.

Yes-- The amazing finale made the rest of the season even more disappointing. I was so over Don & the neighbor lady & everyone doing drugs.
I love that Don is actually getting called out on his bad behavior & that he is finally realizing he needs to make a change & not ignore his past.
That last scene. . .  That look from Sally. . .
I don't hate Meghan, but Meghan & Don never really made any sense except that he needed someone to take care of his kids & she was better at it than Betty.

I thought he was going to work that into the pitch better. Like instead of saying they shouldn't advertise, he was going to ay that his really childhood wasn't pleasant, but everyone wants to the first version he described, so if they use that in the campaign, people will buy their product because it is the childhood they wished they had.

I agree, word for word -- amazing episode. I felt myself not being able to stop thinking about it for hours after it finished.
I am confused about the whole Pete/Bob Benson/Monolo dynamic. Anyone have a firm handle on that?

I am confused about the whole Pete/Bob Benson/Monolo dynamic. Anyone have a firm handle on that?
The way I understood is that Bob Benson and Menolo are both con men. Social climbers that do whatever needed to get ahead while doing a Jimmy Stewart - very nice, open, attentive, passionate, always there kinda guy. Obviously Pete's mom, who had nobody at this point, and was a very lonely woman even while Pete's dad was still alive (she did say that he cheated on her constantly) got trapped in what Menolo was giving her - the perfect companion.
Last epi she said she is going on a cruise and taking Menolo with her as she is in love with him.
What I think then happened on the ship was that Menolo married her thinking that she is old money and have lots of it and then got rid of her. But we learn from Pete and Budd's investigator that isnt the case anymore...
Who knows?

I was SO ANGRY at that scene. Don is such a fcking narcissist, I don't know why he has to bring everyone down with him! Thank God they placed him on leave!
