Day trips with a 3 yr old and 18 month old
Looking for places that are within 2hours or so away to take my kids.
I wanted to do some weekend trips with them, but it's just not in the cards. So, I'm looking to leave in the morning on a Saturday or Sunday and then come back the same day.

Our kids are the same age!
Bronx zoo
Queens zoo (there is no aquarium in Queens that I know of!)
White Post Farm
LI Game farm
Any farm
Strawberry picking
Adventureland
Cradle of Aviation museum (they also have a firefighter museum)
Central Park
Whole food (seriously... our kids love this place: though my wallet doesn't).
Sesame place can be done in a day trip (though I didn't really like it)
Rye Playland
Any park with a NEW playground
You can do mystic as a day trip too
Bear Mountain state park (do a picnic)
Fire Island (take the ferry)

Van Saun Park in Paramus, NJ (they have a small zoo, a train that goes around the zoo, a carousel and a huge playground).

What about the Natural History Museum in the city? I feel like younger kids would enjoy that and get a kick out of all the "animals" there. Central Park I think has the merry go round too and there are a ton of places to eat too....

Day trips with a 3 yr old and 18 month old
The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, CT. Haven't been with the kids yet, but DH & I used to go before kids and we love it there. We are planning it as a day trip with the boys next month.
