when did your LO sit up?

girl twin is almost there..she wants to so bad and if leaning can sit all day

boy twin..he just has no desire..i lean him and he tries to sliver back down to a laying position

i want to get him use to sitting up but he does not want to

will he just want to one day lol

how do they start,just out of the blue

they r 6 and a half months

My kid wanted nothing to do with sitting up until he turned 6 months. It was as if a switch went off and he decided sitting up wasn't so bad, lol. His 6 month pictures are the actual first time he sat up on his own. So for my DS, it was something that just happened when he wanted it to.

Between 4-5 months. I wouldn't worry. They are still peanuts. And the little guy will get there!!!

4months and 3.5 months for my older two my little guy is just about 4 months and isn't there yet. He is very stiff and pushes back when I sit him up. I do a lot with him to make his muscles stronger and I'm hoping it helps.

Hannah did at about 6/6.5 mo but I had to be right there because if she went to grab or look at something she would fall. Brielle was closer to 6.5/7. Now at almost 8 mo (this weekend) they both sit unassisted but i keep a boppy behing Brielle since she gets lazy and likes to lay down. Lol. The ped said to call EI if they weren't doing it by 7.5/8 mo. But they are fine. And now Hannah is almost crawling and can sit up from crawl position. She kinda gets around that way. It happens quickly once they get then hang of it!! Sit them up in the boppy whenever you can.

DD started about 6 months. I would just sort of prop her up on stuff to get used to it and one day she did it herself.

Got into sitting position on their own: 5.5 months

All 3 kids would sit up with a boppy for support 1-2 month before they could do it without tipping.

Maybe he would like it better if you sit behind him so he feels a little more secure. That's how I practiced with DD, we would read or play with toys while she sat in front of me. We also practiced on the changing table since the contoured pad helped keep her from going sideways.

DS was between 6-6 1/2 months. He was like your DD and then seemingly out of the blue he did it on his own one day.

My DD sat pretty well around 6 months when I put her in the right position. She was able to play for awhile without falling back. She sat up independently at 7 months.

I remember it was RIGHT after Christmas when she was really sitting up well. I attributed it to her wanting to play with her new toys So that would make her just over 6 months.

My older DD right around 6 months. But she couldn't do much more than that and didn't crawl till 10 mos.

My LO is much more physically advanced than her older sister was - but didn't sit up until SHE wanted to (would always slink down if I tried to make her sit) - she went from the crawling position to sitting up at 7 months, 1 week all on her own (I have it in the calendar ) and has sat up perfectly since then. No need for a Boppy or anything. She has been fully crawling since 7.5 mos (she's 8 mos tomorrow).

My friend whose kids have had PT issues said that her physical therapists have always recommended to put the child down in crawling position (or belly), and when they are ready to sit on their own, they will do it. I had no idea about this BEFORE my LO did it, but it seems it was exactly right for her!

we started to prop her up at around 5 months. it was funny to watch her fall over.lol a little after 7 months she was able to do it all on her own. a few days before she turned 8 months she was crawling

both sat assisted at 5.5 months and unassisted at 6.5 months (chronological, not adjusted age)

She started sitting up right at 6 months, but only if i position her. She's 7 months and still doesn't position herself

4 months, she sat for about 5 seconds on her own then needed help to stay up. by 5 months she was sitting straight on her own

He started sitting up unassisted at about 6 months.

I feel like my DD didn't do that until about 9 months.. I could put her in a seated position and she would stay at 6 months, she just couldn't get there herself. She's 5.5 now, so the memory is a bit fuzzy.

My DS was certainly able to do it by 6 months, if not before. Probably before...see fuzzy memory comment above.

He hit all of his physical milestones before his sister, she reached all the developmental ones first.

My DS started sitting up well at the end of 6 months. He's 9.5months now and doesn't get into a sitting position himself or crawl. We just had him evaluated for EI but he's above their cutoff.

DS is just 6 months and will sit unassisted, if I put him there. He still needs support though because sometimes he will just fall over. I try to sit with him or put him in a boppy whenever I can.

At 8 mos DD can sit for a few min unassisted with a boppy behind her but she still topples. She is really late to hit this milestone but I am not worried. She really likes to lay and roll or jump and just has no interest in sitting still. I keep practicing and she is getting better every day!
