How many words can they say?

DD only says uh-oh, momma and dadda but she never associates M&D to us she just says it.

She can wave bye bye and gives kisses (when she wants)

I'm starting to get concerned. We took the binkey away thinking that was the cause of the delay and she is still holding back.

Talked about my concern last night with DH and he fired back with its my fault bc I spoil her.
According to him when she wants something she motions for it and I just give it to her instead of trying to get her to say it. Truth is, I try to get her to say it but she won't.

DD just turned 13 months and only says "hi", "mama", "dada", "at" (I think she's trying to say "that"), "up".
I thought that was normal for this age.

I dont think you should be concerned at all. DD is almost 13 months and she just says dada, hi, up (sort of) and baby. She can wave, blow kisses and knows things like where her nose, head, feet and ear are. My niece is 5 weeks older than my DD and she does even less. I really wouldn't be concerned.

I think 2-3 words at their first birthday is normal. That's what my ped's checklist looked for as well as at our recent EI screening.

DD is a nut though and had over 20 words at a year old and now at 13.5 months she's at over 40! It's definitely her strength...meanwhile we're about to start PT bc her gross motor skills are behind.

My dd turned 1 on 6/4. She talks a lot about 20 words, way more than my older dd dd at this age. She says mama, dada, baba, sissy (sister) uh-oh, hi, bye bye, all done, coco (our dog), Minnie mouse, no, grandpa, grandma, cheese, lala (lalaoppsy). My oldest dd only had 5 words at a year and my ped said that was great and normal. She talks up a storm now.

My DD will be 1 on Friday. She says mama and dada, as well as daddy, but not always specifically. She occasionally says "eenie" for Minnie, and "ah-ee" for Abby Cadabby. She doesn't point yet, which mildly concerns me, but she's super social and engaged, so I'm trying not to worry.

The speech therapists at my school says that as long as she has a year by her 1st birthday, it's fine.

ETA: She waves hi and bye and will grab my nose when I say it, but never her own, and no other body parts.

DD will be 1 on Sunday and she says just "mama" "dada" and "mumum" (the snack!). She claps her hands, waves hello and goodbye, puts her hands up when we say "How big is Juliet" and shakes her head 'yes' or 'no' if we ask her a question. But I don't think she actually understands the actual question - she just understands that a question is being asked. LOL

DS is almost 14 months and he doesn't say a whole lot. He tries, he talks in a lot of jibberish but very few "real" words. He says "mama" "dada" "ball" "na na" (not nice lol) "yeah" and "ah da" (all done). Those are the only ones he's really consistent with, and he calls everything he wants to play with a "ball". I think it's pretty normal. He understands what I say and will respond correctly but he can't say the words yet.

DD2 is 13 months and says "dada" and sometimes "mama". Other than that she just points and whines and it drives me bonkers. lol. The pediatrician asked me last week if she had any words and I asked him if "ahhhhhhhhhhhh" was a word. I'm not concerned at all. If this was my first I'd be freaking out bc I'm like that, but I realize all kids do things in their own time.

Toooooootally normal!

DS speaks beautifully & was not chatty at 1 year old. Maaaaaybe he said "mama" (and I think he meant food), but "papa" came much later.

DD sure did not say much at 1 year. She just really started chatting now with words & she's 17 months. It went from saying "papa" 1 month ago to saying "wash hands" and "Mickey Mouse".

I asked ped this and he said words are overrated at this age... He said its more important to have the rhythm of a conversation. Like I can't understand a damn word my dd is saying but she's got a rhythm as if she was having a conversation with me if that makes sense.

That is not a delay.
I don't even think they need to have any words at that age- or if any, just like 2-3 words.
DD really didn't say much at that age either- and by 2 she was a chatterbox.

My DS is 1 and basically only says Da-Da and Da-De a in about 100 different intonations hehe. He also makes a noise that sounds like This/dees? when he points. He uses the same word for me/my DH and the dog. He will point at everything/clap /waves and point to mommy's nose. I'm looking forward to the day anything like "mama" comes out hehe!

My dd is about to turn 1 and she only says mama, dada, gaga, nana... she goes on kicks from week to week where everything is dada or everything is mama. But if you ask her wheres mama she looks at me. Same for dada. And lights. Ask her wheres the light and she looks at the llight.

Other times she calling dada for dh and mama for me.

Maybe your being a little hard on yourself. My ped has never showed any concern.

Tiny Tot is 10 1/2 months and says mama dada and sometimes dinder. our shiz tzu name is ginger.lol ive been doing BSL with her since she was 6 months. she has yet to do a sign or say any of them. im not worried because she seems to understand the signs i'm doing but what the heck do i know

I don't think there is any reason to be concerned. By that point I think Mikaela only really knew how to say 6 words- "mama", "dada", "hi", "up", "no", "yea". One day they just pick it up and start saying so many things. It really comes out of the blue. Do not worry. This is not a delay. It's normal for her age.

I wouldn't be concerned at all. As long as she has 5-10 words by 18 months, she's fine. It's great that she's starting to say words at this point. You'll likely notice a word explosion by 18 months.

DS1 said uh oh at 12 months and started saying mama when referring to me. He had a word explosion somewhere between 15 and 18 months.
