If you did not swaddle your baby...
Did you do anything special to get them to sleep soundly?
With my two older DS I swaddled and they would instantly calm down and I know it helped them sleep. DS #3 likes to have his hands up near his face or wrapped around his head as he sleeps. He gets crazy when I swaddle him.
He will be two weeks tomorrow and right now prefers to only sleep on top of us. I'd like to start putting him in the crib soon but I'm not sure how to get him to settle. You'd think with my third I'd be an expert! Any advice would be welcome!

DS hated to be swaddled. He was a horrible sleeper though so we jsut would put him down already asleep. DIdn't do anything special to take the place of swaddle.

My dd hated being swaddled. So we abandoned that really quick. I think it helped that she slept in rock n play and felt secure in that.

DS was the same way at 2 months. He only slept on my chest or lap. I was putting him in the swing to sleep, which seemed to help. I also though he wanted his hands. BUT, I started swaddling him TIGHTLY (as per our pediatrician) and he suddenly started sleeping in the crib. Around 3 months he started sttn. A few weeks later he started breaking out of the swaddles, no matter how I swaddled him and started waking up in the middle of the night again. About 2 weeks ago I got him entirely off the swaddle and he's been STTN again every since.
I'd personally give the swaddle another try. He's still so young that his startle reflex likely wakes him up...and since he sleeps on you, he probably actually does like feeling cozy and wrapped up.

have you tried swaddling just his chest and legs, leaving his arms out. Maybe that will help

My dd hated it too. She slept in a rnp and i put the jj cole body support in it. It kept her so snug it was like being swaddled but her arms were free. And she didnt wake herself up with flailing arms which is what would happen. My friend used it in her nap nanny and another friend used it in her swing. I used it in the car seat initially because dd was so small. And then it occurred to me how well she slept in there so it weny in the rnp!

This is what we did. We swaddled her with her arms out bc she liked to chew her hands or throw them up over her head. For the first few weeks we mostly put her down asleep. After that she went down awake and in a sleep sack.

Re: If you did not swaddle your baby...
DS hated being swaddled from day 1. He slept in the rock and play and napped in the swing for the first 6-8 weeks. After that we transitioned him to laying flat in the bassinet part of the pack and play bassinet and then to the crib.
He is finally doing pretty good in the crib, but definitely would sleep longer in the rock n play still. he we can't get him back down the days he wakes up at 5 am, we put him in there. That only happens 1-2 times a week now.

Re: If you did not swaddle your baby...
Both my DD and DS hated being swaddled. I never did anything special though. Just put them in a Sleep Sack and then into the crib or cradle. They both liked their hands up by their face and my DD was a thumbsucker from the get go so they quickly adapted to having their arms free and it didn't disrupt their sleep,

My dd hated it also. She hates her arms tied down. I would put her in a sleep sac
