How do these places work? I can't get a sense of prices from their website (JCP, Target/Picture People)
Does anyone have experience - which of these 3 places is the best - they seem like a similar type of place in my uneducated opinion.
How much do you typically end up spending? I am less concerned with the number of print-outs but am interested in maybe 10 poses and a CD so I could make my own prints in the future.

I have only been to Target (twice) and Picture People (once). I think the package prices are on their websites.
Target usually has coupons on their website for 3.99 sheets or 7.99 for a bunch of sheets for 1 pose. The packages, you can get for 40% off with coupon. The CD is normally 150, but decreases in price depending on what else you buy. They sometimes have coupons for a free 8x10 and once in a while the CD goes on sale for $90. They sometimes have deals on groupon or living social. Picture People sometimes has a big bundle deal (a bunch of sheets of 1 pose for $18) and sometimes has discounts on their packages. I bought their groupon for $16 for a bunch of sheets of 1 pose plus savings on other stuff (50% off CD). They also have a portrait savings club which might be good if you plan to go a lot.
I think the prints from Target and Picture People come out nicer (brighter and more vibrant) than reprints on Shutterfly. I'm looking for a better place for reprints.
Target does not do touch ups. Not sure about Picture People.

I liked JC Penny but it was the first place I've gone so I don't know how much that helps I found a groupon for 3 prints (your choice in size) and a cd with 3 images for $25. We had multiple poses....at least 4 and 2 outfits. The photog was very nice but if you have a kid that takes a while to warm up I suggest bringing someone along that always gets a laugh. I brought my SIL who has no problem acting goofy in a room full of people. Lol. They do try to upsell at the end. And it's also good to have someone to take care of the baby at that point so you can take your time looking thru all the pics because I think it's cheaper in the store than online to order them later.
HTH!

of the places you mentioned, I have only been to Picture People. I usually get 20 or so poses of DS in a sitting. The cost for the CD is $150. There is usually a groupon for Picture People a few times a year. The groupon costs $16 for a whole slew of prints of one pose. You then have the opportunity to purchase the high res CD at half off. The CD includes all the images from the shoot.
