Ugh, fifths disease and vacation
My little guy (17 months) was just diagnosed with fifths disease yesterday. He seems fine besides the ugly rash. The dr says it is no longer contagious. We are supposed toleave tomorrow for our mini vacation to Sesame. Should I cancel? Dr said it is fine to go, I just ddon't want to be that mom. Errrrr. My poor baby has been through a staple in his head, croup and now this. All within 3 weeks.

poor baby! how does your son feel? how is he acting? Once the rash comes out he is no longer contagious, like your doctor said, it's just a matter of you feel about still going and if you think he can handle it. if he is acting fine, i would probably still go!

He seems fine. I think he may be a littke itchy, he keeps scratching his ear. I got him benadryl, which the dr suggested. I feel so bad for him. My almost 4 year old will be devestated if we cancel.

If the Dr said it's not contagious and he feels fine- I'd go for sure!

Once they have a rash with fifths they are not contagious. I would not cancel for that reason. Benadryl might miake him exhausted. You could try allegra if he is 2.
