Where do you get sandbox sand and what is the "good" type?

I know there's something about sandbox sand not always being healthy (this seems to be the new trend with everything) . Does anyone know what type we're 'supposed' to use and where you can get it? Thanks!

Lowes and Home Depot sell sandbox sand. It comes in bags. I think it's labeled Play sand or something like that. You can ask when you're there though.

Some TRU also sell bags of sand.

Get a box with a lid! Otherwsie cats think its a litter box! I have stand up one which is nice because he doesnt get too sandy.

I got my sand at TRU. I didn't shop around for price. You can get colored sand at Walmart (in the garden/outdoor furniture section). They had blue, pink and I think green at the one I went to. I was thinking of adding a couple bags of the pink to replace some of the lost sand the girls like to deposit all over my yard and patio. In my mind it will make my backyard feel like Bermuda :O)

We buy our sand at TRU. We made the mistake of buying some extra sand at Home Depot when TRU was out of it and it was horrible and dusty even though it was labeled play sand. We wound up dumping ALL of the sand in the sandbox and replacing it with new sand from TRU this spring.

we bought our sane at home depot. It was the same brand toysrus carried but for almost half the price.
