We've (knowingly) had playdates with kids that are totally unvaccinated and those who are on schedule. I don't have an issue with it. No matter what vaccination schedule I choose for my children, they will be exposed to illnesses.

Based on what is happening in Brooklyn right now, I would definitely think twice about letting my kids play with an unvaccinated child. I believe my kids are protected b/c they are vaccinated, but I also believe that it is posible to contract a disease (hopefully on a less severe level)even if you are vaccinated.
I don't shy away from parks, libraries, etc. But if I was invited somewhere and had knowledge that there was a possibility of exposure I would say no.
Exposure to what though? Unvaccinated doesn't equal carriers of all communicable diseases. A vaccinated child can be carrying a virus on their hands the same as a shopping cart or an unvaccinated child etc. etc.

Same question.
As for my answer, I am generally a "natural" mama, but I vax b/c although there are risks to vax, I believe the risks of not vax'ing are higher. And vax's aren't 100%, as nothing is, so I'd hesitate to have my vax'd kid around non-vax'd kids if I knew about it, esp if there was a particular outbreak going around. Sure, I believe the vax helps or I wouldn't do it, but nothing is fool proof.

There s a huge measles outbreak in the Jewish community in borough park and wiiliamsburg. I believe someone from overseas was carrying it and brought it here. The people contracting it either refused vaccine were on delayed schedule or too young to get it yet. Last I read there were 34 cases

This is really a non-issue. A vaccinated child can carry the same exact germs that an un-vaccinated child can, for example, if there are 2 kids and one is vaccinated for measles and the other isn't, they BOTH can still carry the germ that causes measles.

For me yes. A vaccination builds up antibodies it does not prevent them from carrying those specific germs. So for me yes it doesn't make a difference since both vacc/unvacc can carry the same germs.

The only time this has ever was brought up is now that i have the new baby in the house i ask the parents if they are vaccinated before they came to myhouse otherwise i have never cared....my chuld has his vaccinations so it doesnt matter of someone elses child does not

If I KNEW my children were playing with unvaccinated kids, my only concern would be that while my kids are vaccinated, they could infect my younger baby who is not.
I don't know for the most part who is or is not vaccinated. If I didn't have a baby at home who has not had the chance to get all of his vaccines, I probably wouldn't care. But since I do, that would be my only issues.
One of my BF's child who was almost 1.5 years old caught whooping cough from her older sister(who was vaccinated) but carried it home with her from school. That's my concern.

I don't ask so I have no idea if other kids are vaccinated or not. My kids are vaxed so I know they have some protection.
The only time I think about it is when my kids are babies and not vaccinated themselves. When I had my third would cringed as my other 2 played and touched her but I couldn't see keeping them away from her.

I know for a fact Cailen has played with the hippy unvaccinated kids at the folk festival we go to every summer. He's been going and with these kids since infancy. I'm assuming he's exposed to tons of crap out there and it's why I decided to keep my baby protected by getting him vaccinated.
