what current bands / music are you listening to?
i hate the radio. my car cd player eats cds unless they are brand spankin new so i'm looking to burn some mixed cds for our road trip to VA. I pretty much listen to every genre...BUT I can be a music snob at times, I am very critical of mainstream music.

Re: what current bands / music are you listening to?
definitely making a disk of older stuff...but i kind of want to "discover" some new music too. I might be under a rock but i just heard the civil wars yesterday and i love the vocals.
I used to be obsessed with korn when i was in h.s...i don't like their newer stuff though.
here are a few of my go to musicians just to give an idea of taste:
Bjork
Esthero
Portishead
skycamefalling
the smiths
the postal service
jeff buckley
metallica (old)
telepopmusic
elysian fields
edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros (the live jam session stuff)
patsy cline
johnny cash
willie nelson
regina spektor
amy winehouse
any techstep DNB

Daft Punk (new album)
Have you heard this yet? I need to give it a listen...I think it came out today. I'm curious about it...from what I heard, they've incorporated a lot of actual instruments this time around?

Re: what current bands / music are you listening to?
I've been listening to Dawes a lot. Also dug up Jesus and Mary Chain on Spotify a few weeks ago, that's been fun. Imagine Dragons are on XM a lot and they are pretty good too.
ETA: And there should be a new John Foggerty album out I want to get my hands on. I heard a few clips and he sounded really good.

I've been listening to a lot of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Dawes, Allen Stone, Gin Wigmore, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.
Also for long drives I recommend Podcasts.

Re: what current bands / music are you listening to?
just wanted to say I've been so out of touch with current music that i just got a chance to listen to the new Yeah yeah yeahs that came out in April. I am ADDICTED to "wedding song". I've loved YYY from the start and karen O's voice never fails to make me feel like a sexy badass.
ETA: also diggin "subway", "under the earth" "these paths" "buried alive"
