To stay team green or not?

We were Chat Icon with DS last year. When I was pregnant everyone said I was having a boy and I mean even random strangers so when he was born and they said its a boy I wasn't surprised at all. And I feel like at that point I was so happy he was out that I forgot I didn't know if he was a boy or a girl!!

This pregnancy was a surprise to say the least. We were planning on staying Chat Icon this time too, but the last few days I feel like I want to find out. I'm afraid if I do find out though it will take some of the excitement away. I'm scared that once I know I'll wish I didn't. I have everything for boy from DS and everything for girl as I have a lot of nieces! I just feel so torn.

I don't really know what I'm looking for here. Did anyone feel like this? How did you feel after your decision. I don't know what to do. I'm almost 14 weeks so I have a lonnnnng way to go!

TIA for any advice Chat Icon

This is coming from a three-time Team Greener...

The way I see it is, you're going to find out at some point Chat Icon but you can't "unknow" it once you know, KWIM? So, if you are on the fence do NOT find out!

Re: To stay team green or not?

I wanted to be team Chat Icon but DH wanted to find out in the worst way. We've decided to find out.

I don't have any experience since this is my first and I'm about as far along as you but this was my thinking...

Added benefits of finding out: I can customize the registry more and plan the room prior to the arrival...I can also pick one name instead of stressing to pick 2.

I love the baby growing inside me no matter what it is, but I am having strong Chat Icon feelings and if it's not a boy I feel like I'd want to know so the whole time I'm not setting myself up for having a boy bc it is hard to ignore the boy senses I'm getting.

Finding out now instead of at delivery is a bit less exciting I'm sure, but the birth of LO will be so exciting that I don't think anything can take away from that.

I just can't imagine regretting know what my LO is.

HTH!

Re: To stay team green or not?

A lot of people I know IRL are staying team green. Personally, I'm too much of a control freak to not know.

Also, even if I didn't want to know, at my 20w scan there was NO WAY I wouldn't have seen that it was boy.

We were team green for DD and I loved that moment of hearing "It's a Girl!!!" When it comes time for #2 I will definitely stay team green again.

I would stay Team Green Chat Icon .. My first was Chat Icon and it was the most memorable moment of my life when they said "It's a girl!" .. We decided to find out with my current pregnancy and it was memorable because we had a gender reveal gathering.. Chat Icon

I think staying Team Green is the way to go!

Re: To stay team green or not?

We were Chat Icon for DD and it was the most amazing experience! So much so that we decided we would not find out with any of our future pregnancies.

I cannot stress enough how much fun it is to be team Chat Icon. I think everyone should do it at least once.

I loved not knowing with DS but I guess I just didn't feel that excitement of hearing "it's a boy!" Because I felt like I knew it was a boy. Everyone I know IRL finds out the gender and thinks I'm nuts for not finding out!! I really won't have a lot to prepare be they will be sharing a room and everything is gender neutral already. Thanks for your advice. I think I'm going to try to hold strong! I don't know why it's so much harder tis time!!

stay team green Chat Icon we're def going team green since this our first but I've heard from some who were Chat Icon and then found out number two wished they hadn't.

and don't be swayed by the masses who give their gender input!! that's one thing I'm nervous about, everyone giving their 2 cents on gender, but I think it'll be worth it!

you'd think that's true but its not. sonogram techs for both of my pregnancies so far have gone to GREAT lengths to make sure that you don't see anything that you don't want to- first baby was a boy too. This one we have 16 weeks to go Chat Icon

OP- For me, after going through the experience once and finding out after labor, I think it would be totally anti-climactic to find out early.

I agree with it bein anti climactic and that's why im afraid to find out!

You're right about not seeing anything during sonos. My ob does a sono at every appt and with DS I would remind him every time that I didn't know the sex. There was one time as soon as he put it on my belly there was the baby spread eagle but he moved it quickly and I didn't see anything.

Re: To stay team green or not?

I was team green the first time around and it wasn't nearly as exciting as I had hoped. The whole time I felt it was a boy and I was right. Plus I was knocked out after my c-section and so I have no memory of them telling me it was a boy. I have a vague fuzzy memory of asking DH in recovery what it was.

This time we are going to find out. I want to have some time to prepare and buy exactly what we want. I really want to do a gender specific nursery this time. And I really want to remember the moment of hearing what I'm having so I don't want to wait until delivery and risk missing it again.

Just go with your gut. As pp said, you're going to find out at some point eventually.

TEAM GREEN, WHOO.

eta: I'm 27 weeks. I watched the entire time of my 20 weeks scan and was never like 'oh well that's totally a boy/girl'

You can just tell them to pleasem ake you look away when they're headed towards that area.

Re: To stay team green or not?

I think a lot of it may depend on your personality. Are you a planner? Do you have to know EVERYTHING? Do you like surprises? .. For me, I justh ad to know Chat Icon Team green was never an option I considered for more than two minutes. I need to be prepared and for me, knowing the gender helps me picture myself as a mom and bond with the baby. Although, that's not to say you can't do that by staying team green, I'm just a VERY visual person and I need to be able to picture the baby as a him or her.

We found out with DD and we are team Chat Icon this time around. I'm 20 weeks and I actually am not dying to know just yet. If you can hold out do it. I think it will definitely be worth the wait!

Re: To stay team green or not?

Third time team green here. I have 2 ds' sure it would have been easy to find out the other day, but I feel like when you know before the baby it isn't as exciting spreading the word when the baby is here.

hang in there and stay strong

Re: To stay team green or not?

Well this may not help at all but we found out with dd and I didn't regret it for one second. This baby we are Chat Icon and so far don't regret that either. However, now that you mention it, EVERYONE thinks I am having a boy so I kinda feel the same way you did. Good luck whatever you decide.
