Re: Footage of Reese Witherspoon's arrest
I always doubt news stories but it's pretty clear that she was acting like a jerk. "Do you know my name? You're about to." UGH so smug and entitled.

Re: Footage of Reese Witherspoon's arrest
I don't know, I try not to hold anything someone says while drunk or tipsy against them. I've been there well not with a police officer but I know I've said some obnoxious things in the past.
And I do like the fact she went on good morning America and owned up to what she said and what they did. Admitting it was wrong and they "know better".

This is kind of my line of thinking as well. I've said some pretty flucking crazy stuff while intoxicated. Thankfully, there have never been videos around to capture my whacky assss.

Re: Footage of Reese Witherspoon's arrest
I have some vague memories of things I have done and said while drunk. Believe me, just remembering things I said make me cringe - thank god they werent videotaped. I think most people have had their turn being an a-hole while drunk!

Re: Footage of Reese Witherspoon's arrest
Hoenstly, I think this makes her look like a bigger idiot. She is speaking quite clearly, not slurring her words, not falling over. So I really question how much of it being "drunk" it was or how much of it was what she might really be like and is now backpeddling since it got out.

Re: Footage of Reese Witherspoon's arrest
She treated the officer with disrespect and that's wrong. But, she came out and said that - I believe she apologized to the officer so that's good at least. I wish she would take the time to maybe contribute to a police charity of some kind and realize that they make such unbelievable sacrifices while just doing very basic parts of their job - and trying to protect everyday people, including her and all of her fame lol.
But what bothers me that a lot of people seem to be skating over is that her husband drove drunk, she got in the car with him, allowed him to do so, and the two of them really were irresponsible and dangerous. Then, she fails to see the fact that the police officer very well could have saved her life or her husband's life by pulling them over -- not to mention some innocent person's life who was just driving wherever that night! I mean, think about it, this could have ended so much worse - he could have killed someone, and then what? Or, he could have killed himself, her, or both - and then what? They have children - well, one together, and she has two from previously but still.
She is failing to see the seriousness in what could have happened and how many lives her husband took in his hand that night - and she knowingly got in the car along with him, and people can say oh when you're drunk you don't realize - that's BS, and the law doesn't care if you realize or not, I've been VERY drunk - fall down - and I am VERY much aware that I should not and COULD NOT get behind the wheel of a car. I can barely walk, how can I drive? So, I don't buy that either. They did the typical - you're trashed, I'm slightly less trashed but still drunk nonetheless so I'll drive. No. They are so lucky this officer pulled them over - he EASILY could have taken countless lives.
Hopefully this will be a wake-up call for them - to not only respect law enforcement more, it's not just that, but to respect other people's lives more. We are supposed to care about each other's general well being and safety. Maybe by this happening, it prevented him or her, or both, from doing this in the future which will actually save someone's life. We'll never know that but I believe that these things happen as a way for God to be like, umm hello! and us to make a change, take responsibility, and act more responsibly in the future.

Re: Footage of Reese Witherspoon's arrest
Thank you Dani I was just going to post that I don't have sympathy for people who drive under the influence or allow it to happen. Besides, alcohol lowers your inhibitions but I don't think snotty remarks like "Do you know who I am" come out of nowhere. I know I've never said that while I'm drunk.

Re: Footage of Reese Witherspoon's arrest
Just to be clear. I was only referring to Reese and what was said. As for her husband I think it was completely irresponsible to be driving under the influence. I will not defend him at all.
Just curious does any know what his blood alcohol level was? Because he didn't seem drunk to me at all. And honestly if I saw a friend like this I probably wouldn't even question if they could drive.
ETS: Found it:
Toth, who was driving erratically and whose blood alcohol level was reported to be .139, was charged with DUI and not staying in the lane.
Damn almost double. Wasn't expecting it to be that high.

Oh I totally knew what you meant, believe me
It never ceases to amaze me with the BAC levels! Before knowing what I know now, like when I was younger, I always assumed drunk drivers were "fall down drunk" or looked really intoxicated - then, you see how drunk he was and you realize, they don't have to necessarily look or act like they are shit faced to be super dangerous behind the wheel. Scary stuff!
And why is it so often "driving erratically" AND drunk - oyyy you shouldn't be driving to begin with and then you are going to pull a Jeff Gordon while you're at it?! Thanks for posting that - I didn't know until now.

What happened to the whole "you say what you really mean when you're drunk" theory - you know, the "truth serum" lol I think that's how she really feels deep down and it took the booze for it to come out!
