If you have an extra hour to spare, listen to this discussion about a plausible cause for autism as well as many other developmental disorders. I think this woman is right on the money. While I do believe there are some cases (very few) of vaccine induced autism, I think the majority of cases are caused by pre-conception/pre-natal environmental toxin exposure.
In a nutshell, pre-conception/pre-natal exposure to environmental toxins (ie. Pharmaceutical drugs, pesticides, hormone treatment, endocrine disruptors, etc.) can cause genetic mutations in your unborn fetus' germ line to the extent that their children may be born with a neurological or developmental disorder.
So if anyone plans to have more children in the future, do the best that you can to eat a nutrient dense diet before conception and during pregnancy. I know many times we use the excuse of being pregnant to eat junk, but what we eat during our pregnancy can affect our grandchildren. Same goes for limiting your chemical exposure. Okay, that's my unsolicited advice for today. 
Autism and epigenetics
Didn't watch it yet, but don't have to, to know I agree. I've have been saying this in my head for the longest. All of the chemicals in the environment, GMOs in our food, preservatives, all the things we didn't question growing up, they must have had some effect on our reproductive systems, and our offspring. I think it's the reason we have so many cancers and illnesses. Everything from our air, water and food is tainted with something. I would imagine that vaccines might be a trigger in some cases, but I think illnesses of all sorts, are all environmentally caused.
Eta: I don't think this will ever be brought to light because there is too much money to lose if changes to things had to be made and there is too much money to be made on trying to solve these problems with more drugs.

I think its just sensationalist...
The only thing I would say which makes it seem like more autistic people now than before is more people get tested now than in the past and many people wait to have kids...older parents may up the risk and usually the older ones are the ones more educated (not always, just generally) because they do all their education first...hence they are more aware and are more likely to get their kid screen/tested.

She does bring that up in her interview and agrees a little but when the percentage goes up by a thousand its hard to say that its because of early diagnosis. When you have teachers, aids, PTs doing their job for decades and never seeing kids like they see kids now.
