Any military wives/Social Workers? PTSD related *Update on Bottom
My DH was in the Marine Corps until 2007 and was injured in Iraq early 2007. He was hit by an IED. He was going to the Babylon Vet Center for PTSD and TBI treatment but he left in 2011 since he wasn't showing any further symptoms and they felt he was ready to leave the group. He is having a hard time with what happened in Boston and couldn't even go into work today (rides the subways and LIRR). He also works across the street from the world trade so when he tried to leave work yesterday he panicked. I want to find him a group of young guys that run a PTSD group.I contacted the VA but they want to send him to the same group (mostly older vets). My DH is in his mid 20s...Anyone know who else I could contact besides the Northport VA for assistance?

I am sorry your DH is going through this.
I also want to point out although your DH might feel fine or the therapist might feel as he is fine. I think its always best for clients with PTSD to stay active in support groups. Certain events and triggers can happen and cause the PTSD symptoms to arise again.
Anways, here are a couple of links for you to check out. They also provide counseling sessions and group programs for family members as well.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you require anymore information.

Re: Any military wives/Social Workers? PTSD related
This specific agency is part of what is called the TBI Medicaid waiver program.
You have to have Medicaid to qualify and generally, it's a process to get into the program and find a Service Coordinator through any agency that offers the waiver (i.e. once you have Medicaid, it's not uncommon for 6 months to go by before all is approved).
The TBI waiver does not have PTSD-specific services. It provides services such as case management and home care specific to people with brain injury----not any mental health type counseling.
I would call up NAMI or the MHA of Long Island to see if they can provide you with some resources. Maybe even FEGS? I believe they are the ones who have the contract to provide services to people going through PTSD related to Sandy. If anything, they may be able to point you in a good direction.

My DH used to go to the Vet Center in Queens. He would just talk one on one with the counselor. But I know they have groups too. Maybe there is a Vet Center on the LI?

Try contacting the LI Crisis Center and they will refer you to a bunch of places that deal specifically with PTSD and Vets. They are incredibly helpful.
