No, I wouldn't. I used to be friends with someone whose parents are/were (one is deceased) famous musicians and often times, their child felt like he would not gain success for his own music...or if he would, it would only be because of who his parents are/were.
As for Steve Martin...damn, at 67...his kid might not ever get to really know their dad. But then again, you never know when your time is up, so why not go for it?

I'd say depends on who it is.  There's plenty of perks and pitfalls to being a celeb kid. If I had parents like NPH and his hubby, then YES. They seem private and normal and down to Earth. But then again it can go the entire opposite direction and end up with Kim Kardashian for a mom. ::Shudder::
