The Following - possible spoilers!
Is anyone watching? Totally loving this show! I have a question about the new FBI agent - why did she give Joe the book?
And that mask is spooky!

The Following - possible spoilers!
I seriously jumped when the huh in the mask moved behind joe.
I think earlier joe had said something about how he requested some new book and that's why she gave it.
Feels like you can't trust anyone on the show.

This show is great! Has the same feeling as the first season of the Killing to me.
I jumped when that person in the mask was in the room. So freaky. I'm not sure about the new agent, if she's in on it or not. I think she may have given him the book to try to get him to trust her...as a good faith gift.

 I literally screamed at the top of my lungs. I do not know how I did not wake up DS. I keep picturing the creepy face of the mask!
He did request new reading material. I knew there was something with the agent.

I couldn't sleep last night the show freaked me out.
I think the FBI woman who studies cults is with him.
I'm afraid to trust anyone.
The ex wife seemed too calm. I trust her, but I'd be way more crazy if I found out the man I married was a serial killer.

She's had many years to come to terms with it, I guess.
They've put SO MUCH content in these episodes, I hope it doesnt burn out quickly. If this was on AMC or Showtime, this would have been 4/5 episodes of content.
Is anyone else surprised they show this on network TV? This feels like an AMC/Showtime show. The promo was something like "this is the best show you'll see on Network TV" and so far it's not disappointing. I just feel odd that it is on Fox. I mean, the subject matter, the dogs, the masks, etc.
That being said, I love it. Silence of the Lambs meets Saw. All of my favorites. Great soundtrack too.

I really like this show. Was going to start a thread on this over the weekend but didn't get to.
Looked like maybe there was something in the book she passed to him, either something hidden in the book or a message in the writing. She is probably part of the "following".

I don't think its worse than criminal minds became, lol. That show got SO disturbing I had to stop watching it.

A few semesters ago I taught a course on many of Poe's short stories. "Berenice" is a spooky one that I kinda hope will work its way into the season. It involves teeth.
The masks are of Poe. I never thought Edgar Allan Poe was all that creepy looking - but the masks scared the crap out of me.
One thing I noticed - The house where Emma/babysitter lived looked a bit like Poe's cottage - a house he lived in when he moved to NY - it's in the Bronx. It's not an exact match - but it looked enough like it that I wondered if there are little Poe references throughout the episodes, beyond the murders. Who knows.
What a scary, excellent show.
One thing that annoyed me was why didn't Kevin Bacon and the others release Jordy's photo to the news media. They knew he had helped Carroll escape, and that he was a serial killer in the making. The sorority house - my god.
I think the agent handing him the book is odd - but I think it's a feint. It's supposed to get us thinking that she's in the following, when she's really not. . . the thickness of the book certainly lets us imagine that there is something in the book. . . Poe wrote a lot, but most collected works of his are thinner than the book she was carrying. I think they wanted her to give him a book of a certain heft so that we'd think there was something in it.
I would think that Joe Carroll will want Jordy killed in the hospital so that they can't get any info. I'm curious to see what happens.
I really like the show - but man, it's scary.

also a guard smiiled at him funny when kevin bacon went in to visit him the second time
who do u guys think vic is?
and the poe mask or larry from the 3 stooges lol,i know it is a long shot but i think it is the fbi agent who got"fired"

How did the guy in the Poe mask get away when he hit Kevin Bacon in the nanny's house? The other cop was right outside the house and knew Bacon had gone inside (or at least heard him break down the door).
Is he the guy in the mask? I hope not.

DH and I were thinking this as well. But if you remember, befire Kevin Bacon went in the house, the cop said "you cant go in there" and Kevin turned around and said "you cant but I can"
So maybe the masked guy was able to get away by running out the back door?

Finally watched it off of my DVR last night!! SOOOO good! I didn't get the feeling that the FBI chick was in on it though, I do think the FBI guy might be though, he just young enough and excited about the case to be a possible suspect! He fits in with the other three....not the guard, but he was a "puppet" anyway, supposed to die for the cause....Loved when Kevin Bacon told him that his "puppet" was still alive!!! "Not part of your plan" hahahaha!!!
