Woodloch Pines review
We just got back from Woodloch and I HIGHLY reccomend it!!! We were a total of 4 families- 8 adults, 7 kids. Accomodation: Instead of staying at the hotel section we rented a 5 bedroom house at the Springs, which is their golf course area about 2 miles from the resort. The house was amazing! It was layed out so well- open concept main floor kitchen/dining/living room. There was a screened in porch and deck off the living room. Then there was one bedroom off to the side. The basement was a huge bonus room with a pullout couch, a full laundry room, and another bedroom. On the top floor was three bedrooms. The best part was every single bedroom had a private bathroom. And then there was an additional half bath on the main floor. Food: because we were in a private house, we were not part of the food program. But we did get snacks from the North Lodge. Everything was fast food-like but tasty enough. We also got sandwiches from the Country Store and they were pretty good. We walked through the dinig hall and the hotel food looked pretty good. Sunday was a buffet and the shrimp, crab legs and carving station all looked yummy! Activities: I'm not really sure where to start, but I will say we were busy all day and still didn't get to do everything. I'll walk you through our days to give you an idea. On Saturday we ate breakfast and got the kids in their snow gear and went straight to snow tubing. It was a short little run, but very fun. The line moved very quickly and the kids had a blast playing in the snow. Then we went into the arts and crafts room to warm up and color. We did a short trip to the bumper cars and the next stop was the indoor playground. We spent easily and hour and a half there and even brought snacks and a bucket of beers over from the North Lodge. Then we made our way over to the go carts. The kids loved them! They go just fast enough and there was no line. Then we moved onto the indoor pool. The pools were nice and warm and well maintained. The kids had a blast at the indoor splash/play place. Then we had sandwiches at the Country Store and went to the nightclub for the show. Normally, the Saturday night show is adults only, but since it was a busy holiday weekend they added a 5:00 family friendly show. Their theme for the year was All Italian. So they showcased Italian music and Italian singers. It was actually pretty good. By this pont it was around 6:30 and the kids were exhausted- which was exactly the plan!! They were all sleeping by 7:15. Sunday my older DS and my friend's DD went skiing at Big Bear. We signed them up for a 3 hour program. They had an hour private lesson. Then they went inside to play and have snack for an hour, then another hour private. They absolutely loved it. The rest of us went to the indoor playground again. Then to go carts. We had to wait longer, but it wasn't terrible. Then we went back to the arts and crafts room. Then we went outside for a small petting zoo and pony rides. We took the kids back to the house and made a late lunch/early dinner and then headed back for a kids party and to pick up the guys, who were in the sports bar watching football. Since the guys went out Saturday night to watch hockey, the ladies went to the nightclub for the nights entertainment. First up was a one-man circus act. Not only was he pretty talented, but his personality and audience involvement was fantastic. A magician followed and I was truly impressed. We went to the North lodge where there was a game followed by a Dj. All in all, pretty entertaining. Next time we go I really want to book a spa treatment and try out the shooting range. There were tons of activities and games going on through out the day for all age groups. But you have to be a joiner to get as much out of it as they offer. It was an amazing family trip and we can't wait to go back. DH really wants to go back for the golf. We always go away MLK weekebd with same friends and we said this was definitely going to be our annual trip, no need to look any further, we found the perfect place for our families. And one of the best parts was its only 2 hours from our house.

Re: Woodloch Pines review
A good friend of mine who is VERY picky went last summer and had a BLAST -- and she doesn't even have kids! Her whole family was going (like yours did) so she went with them and loved it! I think Woodloch is worth every penny & would love to take my kids there someday!
Thanks for the detailed review!

We were there this weekend too and had a great time! Infact, I am trying to convince my friends to go with us over the summer. I think it will be even more fun with a big group. Some questions for you: Did you run into Max Occupancy limit issue? Their biggest guest home is Redwood which houses only 12. Did they let you pay extra for the others in your party? Or did you rent two units? I can't wait to go back too!

Re: Woodloch Pines review
To be honest, we lied. We knew that kids 2 and under were free and wouldn't need a bracelet, and we had 3 kids who fit into that category. So we just didn't include them on the reservation. Next year we will do the same thing. No one checked our bracelets once. I'm guessing it would be harder to get away with that in the summer because your arms are more visible.

Re: Woodloch Pines review
Where do you find the house rentals? The amenities are included in the price of the house rental?

Thanks, nferrandi. I agree, no one was looking at bracelets at all. BargainMama, On their availability page once you put in the dates you want, it should list all available options-they have standard rooms, suites and guest homes. Try a different date if you don't see the guest home option. I think they are limited in number and sell out fast.

Re: Woodloch Pines review
You can get an idea of what they look like under accommodations. And yes, you have access to all of the resort amenities with a house rental- except for the food.

This place sounds amazing! We have packed weekend plans for the next 2 months but I will be sure to go next year!
At what age can the kids go snowtubing?
I have a 2yo and 4yo but they will be 3yo and 5yo next year.

All of our little kids went snow tubing- 1.5 and 2.5 years olds rode with parents, the older ones went with parents because they wanted to, but they were old/big enough to ride alone.

I may try to squeeze in a trip this year if my little one can ride. They keep reading about and learning about snow and are DYING to make a snowman.
Is there a significant difference between Woodland Pines and the Lodge? The price difference is significant.
I am going to have to "pitch" this to DH. We have a weekend free in March and it looks like Woodloch will still have snow.

From what I understand, the Lodge is more a spa and relaxing weekend kind of place may not be good for kids. The Woodloch Pines is however geared toward kids. As to your other q, the height requirement for snow tubing alone is 40". Younger kids can ride with adults. But be warned, it is kind of fast. Infact somebody went over the bank at the bottom and I came very close to it. Maybe you would want to ride alone first to see if you are comfortable going down with your kids. You can also pack/buy a sled and have the kids go down other gentler slopes. I am sure they will love it!

Re: Woodloch Pines review
Kids aren't allowed at the Lodge at all. It's an adults only spa destination. I didn't see anyone go wild on the tube run, but she is right about there being smaller hills around that you can bring your own tube or sleigh from home.

Re: Woodloch Pines review
In your opinion, being that you have been there and have seen the place, how "handicapped accessible" is the resort??

Re: Woodloch Pines review
To be honest, it's not something I took too much notice of. But most activities were on the main level, no stairs into the entrance. The second floor, I'm assuming there was an elevator, and you can also access it from outside. The arcade/playground building had no elevator, but you can access both floors from outside- that's what we did with the stroller. The house we stayed in had a coupe of stairs up to the front door, but there was one bedroom on the main level.

Re: Woodloch Pines review
All the buildings are handicapped accessible with elevators, ramps etc. The property is a bit hilly though. I'm fairly certain that they have paths to everywhere that are accessible, but you may have to take the long way around for some things.
One year when we went my mom had recently had foot surgery and had to use a motorized scooter. She didn't really have any trouble, but I'm not sure if it would be different in a wheelchair.
If you are at all concerned I would just call them up. Everyone there is extremely nice and they'll be able to give you all the detail you need.

Thank you both - sounds doable.
He's doing so much better so even if there is a stair or two I think we could make do -- where, in the beginning, we couldn't. So, that's great. Thanks!!

I have posted it on here before. I have never been to Woodloch but from the reviews and the website, it does look amazing! I just cant get DH on board because for the price, we can go to FL or Myrtle Beach or something like that.

Re: Woodloch Pines review
I totally get what you're saying. We priced out a week in the summer with food, and it was almost $8,000!!! It does seem crazy expensive. But I will say two things, 1- there is so much to do included that you would otherwise pay for on other trips, and 2- if you play with dates, wait for last minute offers, rent a house with other families, etc... You can get things at a more affordable rate.

We called for a 3-4 day stay with food and it was $4k... DH and I spent about $8k on our HM for 10 days in Aruba including airfare and food. So I know I will never get him to pay for that place unless like you said, we rent a house with another family or something like that.

If you register on their website they will email you with last minute deals. Also, check out their promotions pages. Most of the spring dates offer kids stay free.

Re: Woodloch Pines review
Also take a look at Labor Day weekend. That is when my family goes and it's the cheapest weekend of the summer. You still get all the summer activities, but at a better price.
Or if you want to go in the winter, check out the red mitten weekends in Feb. Those tend to be less expensive.
My family complains about the cost every year and swears we are not going back the next year, but every year we have an awesome time and can't bring ourselves to not go back. We've been going since 1989!

Are there enough activities to keep an almost 3 year old occupied? Or, is it better for 5 and up?

Our kids ranged in ages from 2-6. They all had a blast. A 3 year old would be more then entertained.
