I don't remember a Pier 1 in Levittown, but confused by other poster saying that it didn't last because it's a low income area. I live in Levittown and I wouldn't consider it a "low income area." I think any of those type of stores would do really well here.
She said she didn't think it would last there because Levittown is "too traditional," not low income.

I would like a Fairway or Stew Leonard's Market to come to Eastern Suffolk! I don't know how likely that would be with Whole Foods & Uncle G's around the same area.
I don't live on LI any more, but when we thought about moving back I was very sad about moving away from Stew Leonards. The one in Danbury is 15 minutes away and I had my DD's 3rd birthday there. All my LI friends and family spent a lot of time shopping!
I love World Market, though they are a lot like Pier 1. I also love Wegmans.
As for Trader Joes, I like the one in Danbury more than the LI stores. But I also find I had to experiment because some of their things are hit or miss IMO. After a few years we have our staples and I find their fresh flowers are well priced and good quality.
I would love a wegmans too! My sister always raved about Stew Leonard's when she lived near one.
I don't have a trader joe's close by but when I do make the trip to one, I'm not usually all that impressed. Also, I was surprised that they didn't score so well on the HRC website. Definitely doesn't make me want to go out of my way to shop there.

I do. It was on Hempstead Turnpike. I believe it is where Ulta is now. It think it was in the late 90s.

I'd love it if they would expand Fairway into Suffolk!

I would LOVE if a nice big Whole Foods opened near me. The one is Manhasset has a terrible parking lot so I rarely go. I'd also love a Trader Joes closer to home.

I would orgasm if a Publix was opened anywhere near NY/NJ/CT.

That would never happen they are not coming up north.

I know
When I visit my family in FL, I go to Publix, like, EVERY DAY.
Their sandwiches are the bomb.
And their bakery section...holy moly!
Not to mention that in FL, they have an aisle of wine.
It's pretty much heaven IMO.

Re: Speaking of places to come to Long Island
Speaking of Pier 1, every time I've gone into one, regardless of location (outside of NYC), there seems to only be 1 or 2 other customers in there.
I even went in a few days before Christmas this year and it was the same deal.
With Target, Home Goods, TJ Maxx and Marshalls though, I could see them being a competition for this kind of store here on LI.
The one by me in Massapequa is also kind of a pain to get to because of the traffic and parking at times.

It was her earlier sentence that I found confusing: "Markets like that would not survive in some of the lower income parts of Long Island."
She led right from that sentence into the sentence about the Pier 1 in Levittown. Maybe she didn't mean them to connect, but I connected it my head.
