Can I give DS a straw cup now?

He's almost 9 months, I remember the package saying 12 months. He's not a fan of the sippy. Should I wait anlittle longer or just give it a shot?
Also, wha brand do you recommend?

Oh sure, we started the staw cup that early. DD took to it really quickly for water. (she's 15m and still won't use it for milk, though...Chat Icon)

Same here. Straw cups are much better for speech development. We've only used straw cups with both our boys. We started around 6 or 7 months. Different brands have different age recommendations. I second the playtex ones! They are the best!

Around 12 months...now he only gets a bottle at night.
He uses both sippy cups and straw cups...depending where we are...

Re: Can I give DS a straw cup now?

At my 6 month visit, the Ped said I can start offering water in the Straw cup.

I have the Playtex Lil Gripper, it says ages 4 months and up on it. It's great and has 2 little handles for them to hold, makes it easier :)

You sure can, we started at 6 mos. Took some trial and error but they figure them out.

I started DS on the playtex little grippers at 6 months. He's never had a sippy cup. I transitioned him from the bottle right to the big straw cups for milk and he never had an issue.
