Moms of baby/toddler girls with long hair...

Is there any way to prevent/alleviate the inevitable hair-face that I deal with every morning or after every nap? DD's hair is just matted down in front of her face like cousin it. It's all wet from drool/maybe snot? and it's just gross. It can't be comfortable for her. I've been avoiding letting her sleep with a ponytail holder in, for fear that she will pull it out and eat it. Am I just being paranoid at this point? She's just about 14 mos.

This is what greets me in the morning:

Lol. My DD has really long hair too and the same thing happens to her. I actually just tie it back in front before she goes to sleep - it has really helped.

I'd love to know the answer to this also! I, too, am greeted by snot-hair-face in the morning. I just assumed it was part of the deal with having a girl. After dealing with my son for 4+ years now, this long hair thing is all new to me. My daughter is 16 months and I wouldn't trust her with a ponytail holder at this point, plus it doesn't seem like it would be comfortable to sleep with one in.

DD has never pulled it out of her hair, and it doesn't bother her at all when she sleeps. I don't think there is any other solution!

My daughter is 21 mos and I pll the top into a ponytail at night now or it is all in her face. She get so annoyed with it in her hair. I have let her slip in her ponytails for a long time. I was nervous at first but luckily she isn't the kind of kid who puts sutff in her mouth that doesn't belong!

I put a pony tail in it each night, I've never had DD try to eat the holder if it falls out (which has happened maybe 3 times).

I use those plastic ones from goodie and they hold all night.

Ah, see...my daughter has been known to pull them out of her hair and start chewing them like gum. She hasn't done it in a while, but I still wouldn't trust her.

My DD used to put them on her wrist if she pulled them out at night, just like a little teenager!

Any particular kind? I can't find one that stays on her head, it slides right off - I'd love to find one that works!

Thanks for the suggestions. It's good to know i'm not the only one, lol. My DH just nixed the ponytail holder, he's not comfortable with it... he said we can "revisit it" next time she has a cold and is super snotty Chat Icon
