Those who have 2 who share a room
Hey ladies, my DD will be 22 months when #2 is born. They will have to share a room, should I get another crib or a toddler bed? Or anything else? Open to thoughs/ideas. TIA!

Re: Those who have 2 who share a room
Mine are 17 months apart. We got another crib. DS is still in his crib at 2.5.
Ikea has some very good quality, super inexpensive cribs that are better ranked than pricey ones and also convert! Start there if you have any doubts that your older may not be ready!

Those who have 2 who share a room
My first dd was in a toddler bed at 20 mths and a twin bed about 34 mths. My younger dd was in a toddler bed at 18-19 mths and a twin a few months later because we moved and they then shared a room...instead of moving the convertible cribs we bought two twins. They both did great

Those who have 2 who share a room
Mine are 27 months apart. We kept DS 1 in the crib until DS 2 was a month and a half and he started climbing out. Our neighbor had given us a toddler bed so we used that for DS 1 and moved DS 2 to the crib at 3 mos.

My girls are 22 months apart. We left dd1 in the crib until 26 months and than we put her in a toddler bed. Dd2 was in the rock n play in our room for the first 4 months.

Re: Those who have 2 who share a room
My girls are almost exactly 2 years apart. We kept DD1's room untouched before the baby came. Didn't want too many changes at once. We talked up a big girl bed for a while, until we felt she was ready. When the baby was about 2 months old we got DD1 a toddler bed and she transitioned no problem...but we still kept the baby in our room for a few more months. When the baby was about 4.5 months we finally put them in the room together. DD2 was sleeping better through the night and DD1 was already used to the toddler bed so it was very smooth.
I recommend getting a good sound machine though so the baby doesn't wake the older DC.

Re: Those who have 2 who share a room
My girls are 20 mos apart. They share a room now, but that didn't start until they were 3 and 4 and I was expecting #3.
I bought a cheaper 2nd crib for the older one and she stayed in it until 3yrs 4 mos! My middle one stayed in a crib until exactly 3 when they moved in together. The 2nd crib was worth it. In your situation, I'd be worried the older one would get out and wander over to the baby in the middle of the night, etc.

mine were 13 months apart so we got another crib.
Honestly it would have to depend on your child and how they do in the crib or bed. Our older DD transitioned into the bed around her second birthday because she was climbing out. She did awesome in the big girl bed and our youngest we put into the big girl bed at 18 months. We went with the twin bed instead of the toddler beds also.
