Convertible Carseat

DS is 10 months old and we are still using the infant seat. When do you start using the convertible seat? He still fits the weight / height requirements for the infant.

Re: Convertible Carseat

We just started using one. DD is almost 7 months, but she's 20 lbs. And the weight max on the infant one we have is 22 lbs.
I'd say if he is still meeting the height/weight req., then keep using it.

Convertible Carseat

I switched DS at 4 months. He was still in the weight/height or the infant but I hated carrying it and it was just easier to get him in an out fo the convertible one. As long as he fits in either it doesn't matter when you switch.

Re: Convertible Carseat

ds #1 around 13 or 14 months when his little brother came around

ds #2 around 15 months when he outgrew the height requirements.

DD around 10 months
She still fit the weight but was getting a bit tall for the height.

Re: Convertible Carseat

We didn't install our convertible until a few months after DS' 1st birthday. He was still fitting in the infant seat with no problem. It wasn't until it became hard to get him out of the seat even on the loosest buckle setting that we decided to change it.

We switched when DS was around 8 months -- Honestly, I couldn't carry the carrier anymore.

Re: Convertible Carseat

I always find it funny that people switch because it got to heavy. I just leave mine in the car.
My girls are 15 months premies and still in their graco 35's. I will switch them once they meet the height requirement.
and it is always nice to use the snap and go once and a while.

Re: Convertible Carseat

thanks! i am getting tired of lugging the carrier around...my husband and i switch picking up/dropping off at daycare so i have to take it in and out of the car. i will miss the convenience of the snap and go tho :( i think i will make the switch to convertible anyway.
