What to get a 3 y/o boy for Christmas?

My son has acquired a good amount of toys and whatnot in his short life. A lot of hand me down toys, ride on toys, arts and crafts, etc. I am having a hard time trying to figure out what to get him for Christmas. He is big into Thomas and I would love to get him a nice train table, but that isn't in our budget this year. I got him a motorized Thomas Trackmaster set yesterday and two extra trains. It will be his first motorized train.
I have other family members asking me what to get him. I have no idea what to tell them (no gift cards).... I have a wish list from his birthday that no one used then.. It has DVD's on it along with books and puzzles...

He has a Thomas couch that he loves and a small Cars armchair that needs a really good cleaning. I was thinking of getting him a bigger chair, but the ones at Pottery Barn are too much money.

I am purging his toys before Christmas so it doesn't look like TRU and Target in here..

What's your budget? Walmart has a nice train table for $60--which actually may lower closer to Christmas.
You DS is 3, so I don't think he's expecting a ton of gifts, and it sounds like you already bought a few. Some ideas:
Pillow Pet
Clothes/PJs with a favorite character
Sports balls (maybe a soccer net for yard, t-ball set, etc)
Beginner games- Candyland, Hi-Ho Cherryo, Matching Games (I got a cute Thomas matching game for $5 at Kohls)
As for the relatives, tell them the Wishlist. If they don't use it, there's nothing you can do about it.

Like pp - DS' b-day is in December as well so I have been thinking of things non stop!

Play doh (I hate this but, he likes it and it dries out so quick so he always needs it)

3 y/o DS is really into building so i got him a bunch of different kinds of building sets, (bristle blocks, lincoln logs, etc). Also he is getting:

my 2.5 year old is VERY into jigsaw puzzles and matching games - also flash cards (like A is for Apple etc).

He also is dying for the B. Woofer Guitar by B. Toys, a bicycle, the big castle with tons of little figures that we found in a catalog. Anything related to cars, trains, coloring.

Look at the Melissa and Doug Whittle World toys!

Here's what we've gotten our 3 year old DS for Christmas:

Thomas wooden trains
Thomas wooden track sets/ accessories
CandyLand/Chutes & Ladders/Cootie
Bruder truck
Jungle Junction bus
Hot Wheels for his stocking
Guitar
Play Doh sets (they have some construction themed ones that come with a truck)
Hess Truck

Suggesting that the grandparents get him some Lego Duplo sets, maybe a Step 2 Tool Work Bench, puzzles, books, a playmobil or constructive playthings (CPToys) farm set.

All I can think of now.

I forgot that I got him a Thomas game over the summer on clearance that I was holding for Christmas... I was thinking about Candyland and Chutes and Ladders.... He has a couple of the giant floor puzzles that he likes.. Matching games are good... I will check Kohls for the Thomas one!!!!

He is into the smaller Lego's now (thanks to a trip to the Lego store).. I will add all of this stuff to his wish list.. Thank you!!!!

my parents got him the vtech tablet i believe so he can play games on it
