Upper GI workup for infant
Anyone have any experience with their LO having an Upper GI workup as an infant? My 5 month old DD is going to go for one due to her feeding resistance (barely drinks enough to stay hydrated, but happily eats). We are going to go to Good Sam since her GI is associated with them. Any specific experience with Good Sam's pediatric radiologist? Thanks so much.

Re: Upper GI workup for infant
My two oldest had upper gi's (though not at good sam). The hardest thing was having them pass the barium...it was soo difficult for them...as long as you are prepared, you will be okay...I just worked their legs, and kind of pushed it out by pushing their legs up...sounds weird, but I would have done anything to help them...TMI...I also kind of pulled it out gently with the diaper
Im sure they told you, but you also have to bring a bottle that will be ruined bc they put the barium in it and cut the nipple...they were COVERED in white!
good luck

I had it done on my younger daughter...I used a pediatric GI at Good Sam and had the test done at Good Sam...they were great with my DD and took good care of her! It was her first time having a bottle and she did fine...it wasn't nearly as bad as I was prepared for!

Thanks Ladies. I haven't made the appointment yet, but will tomorrow. Does she have to fast before it? I can imagine that being the hardest part!

Yes, I think it was nothing for 6 hours before?? Maybe more...that was the hardest part, but she was more than happy to have that bottle because she was starving!

Thanks. They just told me no eating for 4 hours before, which surprised me. I'm still nervous that she is going to be a screaming lunatic in the car. I'm going to have to wake her up and feed her at 4:30 in the morning so that she's done by 5, since our appointment is at 9. This should be fun.
