I think the Elf on the Shelf is SPOOKY
LOL i didn't respond on the other cause I know a lot of ladies here like it and think its cute.. but some of us think its creepy.
So this is for all of those who think its creepy.
I clicked the video from This link (its under the images of various elfish poses.. (just below the main photo of the book)
and really am i the ONLY one who thinks is creepy halloweeny spooky?

each and every christmas
Reminds me so much of Halloween III: Season of the Witch where there's these evil masks that are the must have for all kids for halloween. They have to wear their mask and watch TV on halloween for a big surprise... the commerical for 'silver shamrock' counts down the says in the same sing song tune as above but it says:
Eight more days 'til Halloween,
Halloween, Halloween.
Eight more days 'til Halloween,
Silver Shamrock.
etc..
Spooooooooooooky!
I dare you to go google the movie or check out this link (i can't see it from work so I hope it words)
link and tell me.. do you agree its similar (not identical but close enough)

i bought the cute plush one from B&N; apparently I bought the girl one even though I thought it looked boyish. In any case, DS carries it around with him..has yet to sit on the shelf.
but I did tell him the Elf watches him and reports to santa.
I can tell you its not working TODAY

Our Elf isn't spooky at all. We have a plush one though. My kids LOVE that Elf! He gets into things, leaves little gifts, and tells Santa if they are behaving. Different strokes for different folks I suppose ;)

DH thinks it s so cruel to make a child believe a weird creepy elf is always watching what you do and reports back to Santa.
So I said to him,
"well remember when you were little and your mom told you Jesus was always watching you, that was pretty effective, no?" His response : "true..."

I find it somewhat creepy, plus like I said in the other thread I don't need the hassle of thinking up creative things for the elf to be doing.
But when you think about it, the elf story is creepy, but Santa-- a man who SNEAKS INTO YOUR HOUSE AT NIGHT-- is not?

Hurry up and call social services on those with an Elf! They are torturing their kids with a little magic during Christmas Although I think it goes without saying that if your child is having nightmares because they are tortued by their elf, it's time to put it away!
