Hi,

My son is generally speaking a really good eater when it comes to things like pasta, meatloaf, muffins, toast, etc. I can give him large pieces and he'll take bites and feed himself.

But for some reason, he is really picky and won't eat vegetables and fruits that I've made. I've tried giving him chunks of banana, apples, peas, carrots (steamed), etc. I've also tried to mash them but he won't eat it.

He will however, still eat the baby food of pureed veggies and fruits. Do you think it's ok that I'm still buying jars of baby food to feed him as supplements to his main meal? I feel like it's better for him to eat it this way to get his veggies/fruities then not at all.

My DS is almost 18 months old.

Thx!

DD is almost 18 months and I give her the pouches all the time, so I see nothing wrong with it! However you can get them to eat their fruits and veggies!

Whatever works!
Have you tried the squeeze pouches of fruits/veggies? He might like those better?

I agree with the PP's! My DD is 20 months and I give her the veggie pouches. She's pretty good about eating fruit. I also buy the applesauce pouches. She loves both veggie and applesauce pouches and that is the only way I can get her to eat any type of veggies.

DD is 16 months and I always give her the pouches for snacks. They're really convenient when we're out and about. She's generally a really good eater and loves her fruits and veggies, but these are just an easy way to give her a snack that is nutritious.

My nephew is 17m and ONLY eats baby food still.

According to my SIL the pediatrician sees no problem with it- so I would think you're fine Chat Icon

My nephew ate the jarred baby food till he was 3 since that was the only way they could get anything helathy into him.

If they still like and and will eat it, I dont see an issue.

I give DS the baby food squeeze pouches. He's not a big fruit/veggie fan at the moment either.

He's 18 months.

same here...I find pouches to be a life saver at times...she loves them and they are easy to store and keep on hand

We will sometimes give DD (21mo) stage3 fruits, banana custard or peach cobbler ones with her breakfast. She does eat "big girl" fruits, like blueberries, bananas, strawberries, peaches, etc. but sometimes she wants the baby food version as a snack. I agree with PP - whatever works to get the good stuff in!
