Carnival Themed Party - Real goldfish as favor?
I'm trying to think of cute/unique favor ideas for my DS' 2nd birthday party. We're doing a Carnival theme, and I thought it would be cute to give each kid a small goldfish in a little carrier. Good idea or bad idea? Thanks!

No way. Never a good idea to give living things to people who may not want it as a party favor.

Thanks for your honesty! That's why I made this poll. If my DS got it as a favor, I'd think it was a cute idea, but I know some people wouldn't... just wanted to see how others felt about it.

Sorry but no. Id freak out having to take it home, what if I wasn't going straight home? Could I live it in my car for a few hours, great now i have to explain to her about a dead pet. Ugh then she'll want a new one, of course she'll see a bigger aquarium $$$ yeah, no thanks.
Since I hate the idea of popcorn for kids.. I'd get some of those red/white popcorn holders and fill it up with small toys like the water ring game (you know you push the button and air pushes a ring over a target) and the 'mood fish' that curls up when laid on a hand.... that kind of stuff. Animal crackers haha cause it makes sense to me. those blow curl out favors, chinese finger trap...etc
maybe a baggie of 'goldfish' treat instead of a REAL gold fish.. like this maybe?

No way! The bag of goldfish with the tag is cute though. One of my children came home with a goldfish that was a centerpiece from a party. It went right back to grandma's

I had a carnival theme for DS's 2nd bday. I gave animal crackers carnival themed crayons and stickers and coloring books all put into a plastic popcorn container from target dollar section.
I think the goldfish idea is cute in theory but some people wont want to be bothered with dealing with a pet.
I got a bunch of cute stuff from Star Track in Farmingdale.

While it is cute in idea, it is a hard favor. My son got one as a favor once in preschool. The mother handpainted little fish bowls and it was so cute. Had to carry it home with a 3 year old and a baby and was a pain - spilling all over my car (oh she gave me two - one for the baby and of course I tried to avoid them but my son saw it and wouldn't leave without it). Then it died in a day and my son who is super sensitive was traumatized! It was horrible!!! He is 7 and I still avoid getting a pet because he just doesn't handle this stuff well! lol.

No way. Cute in theory but bad idea. I for one loathe fish, I would NEVER want one, so for me I would be totally put off. Plus, I can imagine the headache and subsequent fight that would occur if someone handed my DD a fish to take home to keep. No thanks. I would much prefer she get a lollipop.
