If You Celebrate Both Holidays...

About How many gifts do you end up buying / about how much do you spend in total?
I feel like because we celebrate both holidays we end up giving many more gifts than everyone else kit tp be faor tp both sides. I am a bargain shopper and some of the gifts are small (puzzle, book, etc) but I'm feeling guilty that I might be spoiling my children lol. Im going to estimate that we spend about 400-500 for both kids including both holidays.

Re: If You Celebrate Both Holidays...

Last year my boys were only 4 months old. We bought them 1 big gift - a jumperoo ~ $100ish. We also got them a few small things like glow worms and new pacifiers and teething toys.

This year they will be 16 months. We are turning a nook in our house into a play area for them as their present. We will probably get them something they can use for awhile, maybe a tool bench or small kitchen?

ETS: At least at this age I don't feel the need to go crazy buying tons of presents for them for both holidays. They are too little to know any different and we just don't have the money right now. Maybe when they start to understand it will be different. I can't see spending $500 on holiday presents for each for a long time.

In case I wasn't clear, we spend a total of 400-500 for the two kids (not each) for both holidays combined.

DS is 2, so this is the first year we will actually give a gift a night for Chanukah in addition to Christmas.

We plan on giving him a small gift each night, something from $10-$20 (Blocks, Flashcards, cars, etc..) and on Christmas morning, we give him the bigger gifts.

Spent a total of about $400 on him.

Sorry, I read quickly on my phone and misunderstood.

I still can't see spending that much for a long time though. I need to keep it more in the under $200 total for both kids including both holidays.

I plan on getting one big hannukah gift- the leappad2 and then give little gifts every night. I will not be getting only toys. I got a cute quilted backpack, some dollar store toys, shoes, and fun cups just for him. For Xmas- I haven't decided yet but I'm sure that my huband will go all out. It really does get kind of crazy, especially after grandparents and aunts are done with gifts- I just don't know how to limit it! I'm in the same boat as you I guess...

We get DD 8 gifts, one for each night. Probably 1 or 2 bigger gifts and 6 or 7 small gifts, like a book or CD. Those gifts come from us.

MIL and FIL are in charge of all of the Christmas gifts. they play santa.

(Of course they spoil her and will probably manipulate her into loving Christmas more than Hanukkah but it is what it is. Hanukkah is at our house and Christmas is at theirs.)

We spend about $100-$130 each kid. For Hanukkah they get one "big" gift (25-30) and then small stuff like books or a small toy. For Christmas they get a big gift from mommy and daddy and then small ones from Santa.
