what to get for my 5.5 yr old Artist...

My daughter doesn't really play with toys anymore..she does arts and crafts 24/7 !!

she wants to do it from the second she wakes up to the min she goes to sleep..colors, paints, draws, cuts, glues..all day long...we go through paper and construction paper like there is no tomorrow!

Looking for something to give her for Christmas...Don't really want to put construction paper under the tree!

Any other artist mommies have an awesome gizmo or gadget for their kiddo!?!?

she already has;
-one of those fold out portfolios that has 1000 different crayons, marker, colored pencils
-a light binder type thing that helps a paper underneath light up to easily trace onto new paper
-easel and chalk board combo


Things I have on the possible/maybe list:
-a projector - to enlarge a picture to draw on a bigger paper (saw a mini one in BJs)
-Itikes Canvas (attachment for the ipad)

I got as a gift for my neighbor's daughter a friendship bracelet making kit from Costco.

My DD just turned 3, but she received a few Alex craft kits and they were big hits. I would also look into a GC for a pottery place to make something. Melissa and Doug also have some make your own kits (mirror, piggy bank, etc.)

Melissa and Doug Decorate Your Own Craft Kits they also have a really cute sticker set with rolls of stickers.

Fashion Plates I loved this toy as a kid. I think there may be a Barbie one out there too.

My DD got a recordable canvas from I think Hallmark. It was really cute and might be fun to do a nice painting then be able to record a message.

-A boatload of craft supplies from Michael's or Oriental Trading - DD loves sequins, gems, pom poms, popsicle sticks, wooden boxes, etc....

-If she's into fairies, too, how about materials for making fairy houses?

-A potter's wheel - they make them for kids.

-We just got DD a spirograph-type robot kit - I think they are on the websote at Make! magazine. They look like a lot of fun!

My 5.5 year old is also very crafty. Last year for Christmas I found this desk for her, and stocked it full of arts and crafts stuff, paints, stickers, construction paper, stamping kits from Melissa and Doug, M&D stencil sets, etc. I bought clear jars with the screw on tops from the scrapbooking section and filled them with things like sequins, pom poms, feathers, etc. It was a huge hit, and she loved it!

Michael's has a great black Friday sale (or rather Thursday) this week. Buy one get one free on all Melissa and Doug, plus they have a 30% off your entire purchase coupon that you can combine with all of their other great deals.

The desk is pricey new, but I found a gently used one on ebay for like $35
