I get the disgrace...but it's not illegal to be racist...what exactly would they do? deny her an education because of her beliefs? that doesn't seem like the right course of action either. First amendment gives people the right to freedom of speech no matter how idiotic or disgraceful the people who choose to exercise it may be.
Actually, it is illegal to be racist, in many instances. Its not illegal to have racist thoughts or to express them (unless they are a direct threat to someone), but it is illegal to discriminate against someone based on their race - And I have no doubt that these kids will one day discriminate against others that are not like "them" if given the opportunity to do so.
I'm sorry...but regardless of how you feel about racism thats a bit of a stretch. being racist and discriminating against someone for a position are two different scenarios. Being racist is NOT illegal nor is voicing a racist opinion. So unless we're going to eliminate free speech, I don't see what people propose should exactly be done about this.
I don't see it as being a stretch at all - I definitely think that someone who is racist and in a postion to hire, rent, etc is very likley to discriminate when making those decisions.

i agree with that statement. the stretch was in saying that racism is illegal bc the kids will grow up to be people in a position to hire and will discriminate which is illegal.

I was finally able to open up this link and read the comments. I'm not surprised. I grew up on LI and went to college upstate NY. I knew MANY kids back then that would speak exactly like this.  In fact, my BFFs father (an ex NYPD) would talk like this.

Absolutely disgusting!!! These pigs are sorry excuses for human beings! I don't care how young you are or how you can claim you "didn't realize" the impact of what you put on the internet. Can anyone be that stupid? You don't live in a bubble. It's almost 2013. If you're old enough to sign up for a twitter and/or fb account and spew disgusting racist remarks, by now you're old enough to learn that your actions will come back to haunt you... maybe now they'll figure out the consequences of their actions. It's scary how easily they can joke about killing the president.  What's even scarier is these little maggots are just the offspring of older bigots, and, in turn, will one day spawn their own mini racists.
Good luck getting a job, getting into college, grad school, etc.

Seriously! Not one of them gave any sort of impression of having any form of education. Don't know why they're wasting their time in college. They don't seem to be learning much. Sad they peaked so young.

What he is saying is that what do the posters expect?? There's a possibility that someone will be recognized and they will be sought after by people that they may have angered. That's the way the world works. Black/White, Palestinians/Israelies, etc....

I think you just took this to a whole new level. It's not about "angry black people". It's about what purpose is there to put all this personal info out there? do you think anyone purposely looking to seek out a page ousting racists is going to send them an edible arrangement or something? what is the positive outcome? Nobody will ever change the fact that there are racists in the world. So how does this page do anything positive to affect that? it doesn't...and it's a realist statement that YES you absolutely will have people that see the information gift wrapped for them and say "hey let's go find him, let's go show up at their job/house, lets go kick their ass" whatever...you don't have to be an "angry black person" to fit into that category and I think it's pretty lame that you tried to categorize a a group of people on this board as racist for feeling that way.

I think the point of the website was accountability. Labeling these people as racists. Could a crazy person take this info and come after them? I guess but they could also see this info on the twitter or FB page that person posted it on and go after them. Your actions on the internet are public record. You want to call someone a racist word and talk about assaination in a public forum then you leave yourself vulnerable for the crazies of this world to come kill you.

I agree with you...although, I kinda feel like the idea of accountability is a little silly since they obviously seem proud to be racist. I don't think the site will shame them as much as it will invite anger and possibly retaliation. I just think if a person is crazy enough to look up the info on that person...well...there's no stopping that. However, when it's all packaged up on one site with no searching to be done...I just wonder if it doesn't make it easier for people to get it in their heads.
Most (not all) of these people on the site are kids. I think of my husband when i met him. He was homophobic. He just did not understand gays at all...thought it was a sin etc etc. Well...we fell in love and he had no choice but to get to know my gay mom. They had some HYSTERICAL debates about it. But the point is...growing up, meeting new people...it opened him up to new ideas and concepts It helped give him a better understanding of the world and the people in it. Now...if you look at his FB vs. 12 years ago when we met he is a HUGE advocate for gay rights and most of his friends are gay women.
My uncle...even as a grown man was homophobic. His son as a child LOVED to play with barbies and was very effeminate. We knew all along he was gay. My uncle had to get over all his pre-conceived notions and now he too is a supporter of gay rights and is so vocal about how proud he is of his son.
my other uncle was racist...his daughter married an african american man and they now have a child. (he unfortunately was not alive to witness this...but i know he would accept his daughters choices and love his grandchild if he were here)
My point behind all that back story is that sometimes people need to experience things in life in order to learn more and I don't think putting them on blast is a way to do it. If anything it will make them angry, resentful and less open to learning. I just still don't think that site does anything positive besides  JMO
