Give me some holiday gift ideas for my DD
What are/were your 6 month-old's favorite things? DD will turn 6 months during Chanukah. We're getting her 8 gifts; probably one bigger one, and the rest small things. So far, we got her a toy bar for her carrier or stroller, and the Put & Play Purse from Bright Starts. We were thinking about getting her one of the ball popper toys, and will also be getting her a foam alphabet mat, for when we set up the play yard in our living room. Any other suggestions?
ETA: If anyone has a recommendation for which foam mats are nice and thick, please let me know. Thanks!

When my kids were little I got them things they needed, i.e. high chair, new car seat, and a couple of developmental toys. The busy ball popper, the laugh and learn home, the cause and effect sesame street toy, and some balls in different sizes and textures.

Give me some holiday gift ideas for my DD
DD was 6 months for her first Christmas. She loved her shape sorter at that age. She, of course, didn't really play with it, but rather loved grabbing the shapes and sometimes banging them together. She also got one of those push walker toys and the front plate came off so she could play with the toys sitting down before she was able to push it around. VTech makes it. She also loved musical stuff. Baby Einstein has this music player that is small enough to carry around and it lights up and plays music. That was a favorite for quite some time. Balls and books also. She didn't really get into the ball poppers until she was one.
For the foam mat - I have the One Step Ahead one and love it.

DD will be 7 months at Christmas and we got her B Toys Zany Zoo, Btoys links and blocks. A Radio Flyer 3 in one, she can sit and ride it or push it. A Fisher price baby laptop, some books, clothes and one of those inflatable bath tubs and some bath toys.

We got this: Musical Table topper
last year when D was 7 months old. The legs come off so they can play with before they stand. She still loves it. Of course now she pushes it around like a gang-buster, but still keeps her occupied! We even took it sans legs when we went away to Florida. She sat on the floor in the hotel and played.

Re: Give me some holiday gift ideas for my DD
last Chanukah we got my DD the FP laugh and learn kitchen along with some small toys, dvd's and books. One Step Ahead has a plush menorah that can be personalized where you can add a candle every night. It looks really cute, we are getting it for her this year although if I had seen it last year I would have gotten it for her 1st Chanukah. ETA: do not get the skip hop foam mat with the animal faces on it, the faces peeled off within weeks. We exchanged it and got the skip hop mat without the faces, comes in a variety of colors and its been great

Oh - I'll add one of DDs other favorite gifts. Bright Starts makes an exersaucer that they can sit in and walk around the table. You can then remove the seat and just have the table for them to stand at and play with. DD still plays with it.

We have this and DD loves it!
Some smaller things she loves are Sophie, the baby einstein plastic book Water Water Everywhere, a set of plastic stacking cups from the bath section at BRU, the FP ring stacker, and a bright starts book from BRU that is crinkly and has rubber parts to chew on.

Re: Give me some holiday gift ideas for my DD
DS was almost 3 months his 1st Christmas and one of the things we bought was the FP Laugh and Learn Farm. He started playing with it at 6 months and it was a favorite until way past age 1. It was amazing to see how his play changed over time relative to this toy. I'm not sure they still make the farm but there is also a Laugh and Learn Home. We have the Home too but the Farm was better in our opinion.
We also bought DS lots of Lamaze brand toys that Christmas.
ETA: We own a foam mat from One Step Ahead. We have the colorful letters and numbers and the edges. LOVE IT! It's still going strong and DS is 3 now. Had it since he was about 6 months. No tears, discoloration, nothing. Worth every penny. Thicker than most also. We have 2 actually, my parents have the letter set at their home.
