9 months and still spitting up

DD is 9 months old and has been a spitter since the beginning. She was allergic to dairy but her only symptom was blood in her stool. Even after dairy was eliminated she still spit up all the time. She is now on formula and also eats yogurt daily and seems fine with it, so we believe the dairy issue is over with. She is a happy spitter...it's more vomit like now since she eats a lot of solids. She will spit up right after a bottle as well as ours later. Every time I mention it to the doctor he tells me that she will hopefully grow out of it by the time she is 1. I know that I was a a baby also....my mother claims I was worse. Just looking for some insight....or someone to commiserate with smelling like vomit all the timeChat Icon

Re: 9 months and still spitting up

My DD really didn't get better until 1 year old. Or almost 1.
She was on the Axid med until right around that time.
The ped said it also really has to do with their core getting stronger- that helps keep the food/milk down as well.

It will get better... but I know in the moment it stinks.
All her clothes from her first year of life are so stained!

DD is 6 months and has been a happy spitter since birth. We switched from powder formula to RTF and she got better for a while, but then it was right back to throw up city. Her doc says the same thing – that she will stop by her 1st birthday. I was just telling DH today that I hate that she has to wear bibs practically 24/7. And I warn people before they hold her that she’s a spitter and if they like what they’re wearing – then look, but don’t touch. Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon we were the same way. bibs 24/7 and we warned everyone. And it wasn't just a little bit of spit up. It was sometimes the whole bottle and you would be SOAKED.

My 2nd was on prevacid to help with his reflux (he was not a happy spitter upper) and we recently weaned him off of it about a month and a half ago. Solids i think helped him a lot. Oatmeal in the mornings helped weigh it down and 3 meals a day.

Is she on 3 meals a day? are you still doing oatmeal or cereal at all?

I do agree that she'll outgrow it by a 1 year old. Just totally stinks when you're in it and it's constant. I got to the point where if it wasn't a lot, i didn't even want to change his clothes yet AGAIN. Chat Icon I feel your pain. Hopefully it ends soon for you. Chat Icon

Dd spit up until her 1st bday. It was as if it magically stopped right as she turned 1. I remember thinking if it would ever end.

Re: 9 months and still spitting up

My DS was a major spitter upper. I was always amazed he gained weight. He was on Zantac for reflux issues, it helped with the pain, but never helped with the spitting up. He used to have to wear bibs all the time and I hated it, but if he didnt, i would have to change him 100 times a day. Right before his first birthday it was like a switched turned off. The spitting up just stopped. Now he is 16 months and I cannot remember the last time he spit up. There is an end insight!

DS is a happy spitter. I've noticed it's not as much now that he's 7 mos but still a decent amount. Sometimes it's so stinky now ewww!! We were spoiled with DD she never spit up, never even had to stick a bib on her. Now we take 4 or 5 with us with DS lol
